Tympo by Teletone Audio

Would you say the included midi patterns are hip-hop focused? How many velocity layers are there on average, and RRs?

We are not totally great with knowing all genres and sub-genres so I would hate to slap a label over them all to say they are mainly hip-hop focused. But that is probably fair to say. Hip-hop, pop, and a little alternative/indie rock.

Regarding velocity layers and RRs. Especially for the style of sound we wanted, that was not an area where we felt going super deep there would help or even be preferred. I believe there is, on average, 4 velocity layers and 3 round robins.

Cool, hope that helps!

Yep it does, cheers.

Btw, I've spoken about tympo to 3 or 4 people now who were all under the impression it didnt have either RRs or dynamic layers. I think you'd do well to add that info to your product page somewhere as it put all of them (and me) off the library a little.

Thanks for the feedback!

We actually do mention this in the trailer (See screenshot from trailer), but I know not everyone watches, they may only skim a product page.

It does bring up the reason why we didn't list it on the product page. We do want to encourage people to 'use their ears, not their eyes'. Meaning, if you dig what you hear from all the demos and exposed walkthroughs and videos it would be a disservice to your ears to then decide to not buy something due to a technical spec.

But I get it. I'm just as much as a nerd about the technical details and finding realism in samples and such. Having been a part of using and making samples for over a couple decades I found that over the years I started to do a disservice to my ears. Persuaded by my eyes by a particular brand of microphone when really a cheap dynamic sounded better/cooler, or not reaching for a beloved old string library that just sounds good despite its lack or legato or something. So yeah, it's a thing!

I think we struck a balance on these recordings of not going too shallow on the vels and RRs but not going so deep that it's a negligible difference and waste of resources.

Thank you again, always appreciate feedback! Just mentioned it in the product page. 👍

Oh sorry, I watched the trailer twice and completely missed that! I blame my shitty eyesight  I'll be ordering this evening, thanks!

Oh MAN! I was planning to buy Ondine on black friday, and now i have to choose between these 2 beasts. That is so tough. Tympo sounds awesome.

With this release Teletone just became my favourite audio company along with Kush. Those 2 have the best taste in the game (it's subjective obviously but hey)

Get both? Haha :) Actually if you use the code BUNDLE at checkout with both Tympo and Ondine you get 15% OFF fyi!

Speaking of Tympo and Ondine, in this video Jeremy breaks down the track “ModemMode” that solely uses both of those instruments and explains how he uses them.

Again use BUNDLE code at checkout to get 15% off Ondine and Tympo together.

Looks like a lot of passion, thought, and labor have gone into Tympo. Congrats to the Teletone team for making it happen!

Personally, I'm very enamored with the sound, but can't really justify the cost in my head. 700mb of content for ≈100/130 is kinda steep (for me at least, price sensitivity is subjective). Would love if there was a "lite" version for 50 with just the raw WAVs.

Thank you!

As far as pricing goes, we do not price our libraries based on megabytes. The samples are just one part to this instrument. I would trust what you are hearing "enamored with the sound" then what you are seeing "700mb".

There are 30 different kits created from 50 different drums sampled with multiple round robins and velocity layers. We gathered many vintage "orphan drums" from our personal collection, as well as many well known studios in Nashville to put together a collection of drum sounds that we love.

In addition to the samples there is a tech side to the instrument with the Sound Design and Beatmaker part of this library. They allow you to have MIDI automation of the Sound Design parameters that lets you perform back, in real-time, a time-stretching algorithm, velocity manipulation that leverages the multiple velocity layers, chaos additive that creates duplets, triplets and sixteenths in different directions from the pitchwheel, all while being able to sequence-jump between different patterns with keyswitching. So there is a bit of tech in addition to the samples that doesn't use up MB.

But either way, yes, price sensitivity can be subjective and we feel it is price accurately. No plans for a lite version.

Appreciate your interest.

This looks fantastic! Can you import midi from Toontrack libraries? This seems right up my alley just would end up wanting more beat starting off point options.
