Synchron Player responsiveness

Hmm there does look to be a difference in players. Here's a gif of Pianoteq, Kontakt, Abbey Road One, and Synchron. playeropentimes.gif

Pianoteq is instant, Kontakt just barely a hesitation, ARO a bit of delay, and Synchron has a much larger delay than everything before it.
Yeah I get same.

This seems to have improved for me. Still a slight delay compared to some other plugins but quicker than it was. Not sure what has changed but there was a windows update. May just be a coincidence of course.

Very late to this party but to not open another Topic...VSL Synchron for me is the HEAVIEST of all Players and Libraries, and i have them almost ALL. In Cubase, hell, you can smoke a Joint while waiting for the Interface to open if you closed it...speaking of closing it, same thing...by the end you'll be as high as a Surround Mic.

Interesting thread. I'm on a PC and host most Synchron instances in VEPro7 but definitely notice a >1 second time to switch between tracks when I am looking at the UIs. Sometimes it's 2-3 seconds. It seems to vary... for example Synchron Brass is by far the greatest culprit for me, those instances take 4+ seconds to show the UI sometimes. And I do also suspect it's UI-related b/c I can sometimes catch the Synchron UI "between states", like with a partially rendered background that is sometimes not the correct color. It's not the end of the world but it'd be pretty awesome if it was instantaneous.

There is a totally separate Cubase issue with changing tracks, that has to do with how many Sound Slots are used on an Expression Map (note I mean Sound Slots, not Articulations). As the sound slots grow in number, there is a very noticeable increase in the time it takes Cubase to "switch" tracks (when switching to a track with a large number of Sound Slots). With few sound slots, switching MIDI tracks is instantaneous. I don't know about Synchron UI slowness in Cubase though since I tend to keep those in VEPro....

I am using iLok hardware key, not cloud.

Heaviest UI-wise, right? But not playback resource utilization-wise?

When I keep the UIs closed, Synchron is screaming fast compared to my other players. I can play more simultaneous Synchron Player orchestral instruments than SSO (Kontakt) or BBCSO (Spitfire Player). Don't know about Opus, I don't use that much.

I have the same issues and this is enlarged when. I'm using Synchron-ized Dimension Strings on playback. Playback will grind to a halt with Synchron Player open. If I however minimalize or close it on playback, I have no issues. Weird right?

sounds similar to the issue i have with vst3 in any daw (au doesn't have this problem) where playing a track that changes articulations while the player is open will result in the playhead stuttering at every articulation change, while with the player closed the playhead plays smoothly, so again a UI related issue here.
I use VEP so it doesn't really affect me, but it is still slow even in VEP to switch from track to track.
The fact that these issues have not been solved for so long is rather annoying.
But i never experienced slowness related to the expression maps having many slots, probably cause i keep the number of slots low (<50)

I've started a similar thread a while ago and I'm happy to see I'm not alone.
For me it only starts if I add more than ~4 instances or so and the more I add it gets progressively worse until it takes 3-4 seconds to open the player when I select a channel in studio one.
To be specific I'm just talking about the time it takes to select a channel and until the player opens.
I do not experience any particular problems with playback, no matter if a player is open or closed.

@Ben maybe you can take all of the feedback from this thread and take it to the devs? It would be great if this could get addressed somehow.

I have no issues in VEpro 7

When I use just a single instance of Synchron Smart Orchestra in Studio One, I immediately get a CPU problem. Five instances of Synchron Smart Orchestra will make Studio One crash. However, if I put Synchron Smart Orchestra into VEP 7 and pipe it into Studio One, then there is absolutely no problem.

Totally forgot that. Yes....never happened until the switch from Elicenser to iLok.
In fact it happened exactly when I switched over.
Since iLok, it is not possible to save a VEP 7 template with the instrument view of each instance showing and the F4 instrument view button doesn't work. Something happened when iLok started.
