Best Hammond B3?

Here are my top contenders:

IK Multimedia Hammond B-3x

Genuine Soundware VB3II

GG Audio Blue3

Acoustic Samples B-5
(I hear an update is coming soon)

And a drawbar controller is a great thing to have as well ;^)
D9-X Drawbar Controller

Simeon, you make that IK B3 look great. But it's sooooo expensive. I may have to wait for a sale on that one.

Logic Pro comes with a really great one, and you can tweak it to your heart’s content (Eq, distortion, drawbar settings) easily within the plug-in itself. Personally I’m able to get my favorite organ tone with it.
I used it all the time back in my Mac days. But now I am working on Cubase on the PC and I don't have access to it anymore.

The IK Multimedia B-3X is the best I've used (haven't tried them all). I really like the fact I can use the Hammond XK-3C as a controller, with all the drawbars/buttons/dials recognized by the app. Plus it works both on my computer (Mac) and tablet (iPad) so I can get the same sound playing live with the tablet. It is a bit expensive, but IK often has aggressive sales if one is patient.

Personal preference: If you have Amplitube and Komplete, run the NI Vintage Organ B3 direct out into Amplitube Leslie. That sounds really good... actually better than the old NI B4II which was my previous favorite. But even better is hooking up the 8dio B3 into Amplitube Leslie (with appropriate effect pedals in between). I think the 8dio B3 has a better tone than NI Vintage Organs. The recorded leslie with the 8dio hammond is great, but I like the greater amount of control that Amplitube's Leslie affords - especially with the additional pedals involved.

Agree!
The Amplitue or TRacks Leslie breathes new life into all of the above, even non-tonewheel instruments. Using it on a Rhodes is very interesting.

I really like the IK one, though I don't have lots of others to compare it to. Honestly, as much as I threw vintage organs aside in disgust when it replaced B4ii, whenever I fire it up it sounds better than I remember it doing.

The IK one was on a hefty sale recently as well, so just be patient!

A lot to think about here. I don't need this immediately, it's just that I just used a B3 on a recent piece and was very disappointed. Definitely exposed a weakness in my template. I'll explore these options, but I expect I'll check out using the AmpliTube Leslie while I wait for a deal on the IK B3.

Usually IK has 50% off sales on BF.

Thanks, everybody!

If you have any other IK products (over $99) you can crossgrade to B-3X. The crossgrade deal back in July was $120, which is the cheapest I've seen it so far. Hopefully they bring that back for BF!

Blue 3 used to be popular - I've never tried it personally but it's another alternative for you. Might be around $85 for BF:-

The standard crossgrade is $199, so if there is a half price sale (and it is included) it would be $99. With a few points... that just might do it for me.

Thanks for the tip on Blue 3.

Good thread. I have B-3X, Blue 3 and B5. Just my take... totally subjective:
-B3X most faithful console sound. PITA to use. Best reverb
-Blue3 best value. Most configurable. Most intuitive. Would have this for flexibility and one other
-B-5 best cabinet configurability. Not the most configurable console. Like overdrive.
