TDR Special Filters bundle (new)

I’ve asked this a few places but curious to check if folks here have thoughts:

How does Arbiter compare to using a single dynamic cut in Pro-Q 3 using automatic threshold?
Would need Fabien from TDR to answer that one. I suspect that it’s fundamentally similar… unless you use wideband or harmonics or… etc. Also Arbiter is at least as easy to use if not more so - a single purpose tool rather that the more complex ProQ3.

From Fabien on GS

We learned a lesson or two on recall compatibility with the last bigger Nova update. We'd definitely make Nova "next edition" a whole new product, not directly compatible with older versions (although we'll maybe add settings transfer options via copy and paste).

About a multi-arbiter, we are already planning to add a few more bands in future updates (but it's less trivial than it looks, because arbiter's algorithm depends on the wideband input, it can't be run in parallel that easily while still making sense musically).

We also have a rather exciting idea around Arbiter to be disclosed later, but still subject to prototyping, not really sure it works as envisioned (no AI or auto mastering, in case someone worries already

).

In any way, the point is that Arbiter will develop quite a bit over time and eventually reach a state close to Nova's operational depth. I agree it's likely wiser to keep these concepts separate (they really are fundamentally different).

Bundle and individual plugins on sale. The bundle is $50 and there's no reason not to get it. :)

(note: Arbiter will eventually have more than 1 band - no timeline, but Fabien generally delivers on what he says)

Bought. Arbiter seems like a really cool useful tool and I'm sure I'll get use out of infrasonic/ultrasonic as well.

All in this bundle are superb imo. Their vids were definitely worth watching to fully understand the specific problems each filter is designed to address and how best to use them. Definitely not snake oil.

First impressions after an evening testing:

1. Arbiter is a really useful plugin. I've been testing it on resonances and it's so much easier to dial in vs. a dynamic EQ. Think of it as a more controllable and surgical gulfoss/soothe for individual tracks. I think the end result sounds better than those tools for certain problems with balance as you can get aggressive with the cut without making it sound brittle. I still need to experiment with it on the mix bus. Should come in handy for muddy low end.
2. I swear ultrasonic is making things sound better when placed between some saturation plugins I use. I like the sound plugins like true iron, kramer master tape, and waves nls bring but sometimes depending on the instrument, this high frequency sheen starts building up. Ultrasonic seems to tame it. Maybe it's all in my head :).
3. Infrasonics is pretty pleasing in the way it takes some boominess out of the sub. Works better when it's subtle though.
