Favorite bass amp sim?

Ampeg VST (the official one)
Neural DSP Paralax
IK Amplitude Ampeg

Then I have IR's I made from my Ampeg 4X10 and 1X18 speaker cabs.

I had the Amplitude and Ampeg plugins before I even seen the Plugin Alliance ones. Since I already had those didn't pick up any more from PA other than SVT-CL.

Re:Ampeg bundle
I deleted my previous over enthusiastic post.
PA should have made it more clear that this offer was for a subscription.

That’s an unbelievably GREAT DEAL!
i already have all of them except the SVT-3PRO.
I’m almost tempted to get the bundle just to add this one Ampeg which happens to be my least favorite, soundwise. So I’m probably going to hold off but anyone that doesn’t have these should definitely buy these ASAP this is a true NO BRAINER!
See my edit above though - this seems to be a subscription price and not a one-off payment.

Although many people preferred & used the Fender Bassman as a guitar amp I’m a little bit surprised no one has mentioned some of the various Fender Bassman amp sims in this thread. Besides handling bass & guitar amp duties the bassman also works well with e-pianos, it is an extremely versatile type of plugin as was the actual amp.

Like others I use and like Neural DSP Darkglass and Plugin Alliance Ampegs. I recently got Line 6 Helix and there are some nice options in there, particularly the Mesa Boogies. BTW I believe Line 6 are the ones responsible for developing the official Ampeg sims.

Used the PA Ampegs a lot previously but mostly just end up using parallax on everything since it’s easy to craft a tone. A surprisingly versatile plug-in and can be pretty clean when dialling back or pushing the input gain.

Hello.

I recommend my favorite plugin, after trying some plugins.

Audio Assault Duality EX

ufff. Incredible results and very low cost. In general, these people from Audio Assault have very interesting things and at a decent price.

I really like Audio Assault, who make cool plugs (Headcrusher is awesome) at great prices, so I should give this a spin.

IKM's Ampeg SVT-VR Classic is I think my favorite, but Kuassa's Cerberus is another low cost option that punches above its weight and is worth checking out.

I'm just getting my music setup back up and running after moving home. The new house gives me a dedicated computer room so I'll have my guitars to hand after a long time of not having them nearby. I'm primarily a bass player so I'm looking forward to getting that plugged back in.

I used to go through my Markbass CMD121P via DI out to my audio interface but that amp died on me so now I have a Laney Digbeth DI and preamp pedal. That Markbass DI was great and it'll be missed :(

So now my Fender Precision and Squire VM jazz will go through the Laney, into my ID14 and into an amp SIM If needed. Or I could just use an IR for a cab, depends on how it all sounds.

I have the IKM Ampeg classic, and also turns out I have the PA Ampeg one too (possibly a freebie as I don't recall buying it). I've also just bought Audio Assault duality bass (and got a free Shibalba guitar one) and the two bass IR packs (plus two guitar ones in the 4 for $5 deal).

You guys keep recommending more, so please stop it! I can't be buying any more!

I'll let you what I think of them all once I get a chance to groove with it all.

Pretty much what was already mentioned - the Darkglass and Parallax by Neural DSP, the Ampeg SVT 3 Pro by Plugin Alliance, and I also like Gorilla from Aurora DSP.

There are also a number of very useful bass models in the IK multimedia Tonex product (especially when one downloads the user-shared captures, which include darkglass, ampeg, sansamp, fender, gk, etc.). I used to get the most mileage from the PA/UAD Gallien-Krueger, followed by the PA/UAD/Brainworx Ampegs, but lately I've been enjoying the Tonex models the most (and/or combining them with the Amplitube sims). Finding they sit better for me.

Also like the Logic built-in sims (for bass), and the Amplitube sims. Demoed the Acustica-Audio Graphite product which also has a great sound. Do like some of the NeuralDSP products, but somehow didn't get along with their bass products.

Hi!

I didn't know about Kuassa's Cerberus... I'm looking at demos... it sounds quite tasty!!

Thanks for bringing it up, Quasar.

I am still to find obe that I love, and I have many. Most times I prefer the sound of a Direct bass thru a good pre amp.
When I need to however it is usually Softube's Eden wt-800 or Overload's Mark2 which is in bad need of an update.

Reviving this post as AuroraDSP is having a big sale. Mammoth (which I've had my eye on as I want a nice solution to the metal bass sim in addition to my more prog style) is only $24.99!

Is there any reason to try anything else for metal bass given this deal? Parallax will be ~$60 for BF, and my impression of NDSP these days is that you pay extra for the extra CPU use (...). There's also the Bogren Ampknob. Anything else released recently worth a try?
