Cubase 13 - Chord Pads

Hello Cubase 13 chord pad devotees.

In the chord pad world I’m trying to insert onto a pad a Bmaj chord with a b5 - That’s B (Tonic) - D# (Major 3rd) - F. natural (b5) (That’s not a #11 which the chord pad wants to name it) it’s simply a Bmaj chord with a flat 5th. The chord only contains 3 notes, the chord pad is adding a #11 and the 9th to the chord.

If I play the triad into the midi input of the pad the result is the correct chord and triggers accurately until I insert another chord on a different pad into the sequence then the Bb5 chord automatically takes a life of it’s own and becomes a straight B chord i.e. the normal perfect 5th.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Cubase chord detection and definition doesn't draw from a very wide vocabulary, so a chord like this isn't even recognized if you were to run Create Chord Events on the notes. When I use MIDI input to assign this chord to a pad, it seems to accommodate the input by displaying "B" on the pad although it's obviously not Bmaj. As far as the notes changing like you observed, it's not doing that for me, but there's a Lock Chord Assignment button on the chord pad toolbar, so maybe that helps?

That sounds a great idea, thanks a million.

I shall go forthwith to check out the Lock Chord Assignment button. When I find it I’m going input a C13#11!

Thank you for your wise help.
