How can I get East West Opus for my old Play libraries?

Hi everyone.

A quick question about the EW OPUS Player: I bought Pianos and Symphonic Orchestra years ago with the old Play player.
How can I get the new Opus software?

I will have to buy the complete softwares AGAIN?
Is it possible to get the Opus player only and make it run with my old installed libraries?

Thank you!

Hello,
It's not possible currently to get only OPUS Player without buying an OPUS instrument: please check EW FAQ:
Will I be able to upgrade to the Opus engine without buying Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition?

Currently you must purchase Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition to get the OPUS software. People who purchase any other EastWest product post-release will also get OPUS. All ComposerCloud members will automatically get OPUS. But we are going to wait a while before allowing previous PLAY product purchasers to upgrade in order to assist our support team during this major upgrade period. When we do provide that option, it will be a paid upgrade.
Regards,
Gil.

Thanks so much Gil.

So, if I buy a new version of Pianos, I will have the player also for my Symphonic Orchestra Gold and Hollywood Strings libraries, I suppose?

yes, buy any opus instrument and you will get the opus player, i purchased opus diamond upgrade and now all my other libraries are in opus too

The support team told me at minimum you need to have the Gold versions for OPUS. The silver versions will not work.

I have a few old libraries on PLAY which I use occasionally, mainly because of the known limitations. Is OPUS a big improvement in functionality and playability?

So I'm in the same situation... It's not very clear on EW website. If I am correct, I could either upgrade my EW Symphonic Gold to Symphonic, then I get OPUS ?

BUT it doesn't say on the website if Symphonic Orchestra is OPUS ? (Is it by default ?)

Also, If I just rent EW for 1 month, 19,99$, Do I get opus and my EW Gold will work ?

Thanks

Seems unlikely that Opus would still work once you cancel the sub!
It's an interesting case though, worth clarifying. Opus, like Play, isn't a for-sale player, it is the libraries that have the value.

I'd drop EW support a line, they were very quick and responsive last time I contacted them.

It is licensed though, so once the sub is cancelled I suspect you lose the license.
FWIW, my Opus license has no expiration date, which is to be expected from a permanent license. Maybe someone with subs can check if Opus is the same there - the content subs might happen separately, I don't know.

Any which way, no harm in asking.

I've been told that if I buy an Opus library, my other EW libraries will then use
opus too, i.e. Voices of Opera, but somehow this doesn't apply to Hollywood Diamond. It has been confusing since the introduction of Opus.

they are actually missing some money for not offering the opus player by itself. i wont upgrade my HO diamond, but i would buy the opus player if it would be available. well, ofcourse they could always give it out for free to the loyal customers ;)

Anyone can download and install it so the license has to be managed.
I had a thirty day trial and tested it with my single EW library but it stopped working after it expired.
