It's been happening all through kontakt 7 though. was fine in kontakt 6.
whenever i load up sonuscore "the orchestra 3" and change presets through the gui. after about 3 presets it freezes. crashes the daw and it can't move.
I'm on Fl Studio latest version. Just updated to kontakt 7.8 and it's not helped. Can't downgrade as i have many projects in K7.
Thing that bums me out is it worked in K6 just fine.

I've tryed setting instrument preload buffer size to 60kb or 6kb. tryed turning on and off. it happens when the song is playing and when stopped.
Sometimes the buttons still work but no sound comes out then it freezes. task manager is the only way out the daw.

STANDALONE version seems to work fine though. I've gave kontakt 7 and FL studio admin rights. set buffer from 124 -256 -512 -1024 to no avail.
set sample rate to 41k, no joy. PLease i don't know what else to do im literally tearing my hair out with stress as to why this is happening.
im running windows 11, all redistributables updates and windows defender turned off i5-12600k 64gb ram.

There is something funky FL is doing with its threading. i5-12600K is a big.LITTLE CPU, if you run FL with efficiency cores disabled for FL64.exe process (you can do this with Core Affinity feature when you right click the process in Task Manager) you should get no crashes.

*I found a Temporary Fix* But I believe it is a bug with Kontakt itself or with the Sonuscore library.

I created an account here just to help with this post, because I just "temporarily fix" the issue and @jayjay999888's problem is absolutely the same as mine.

This problem easily happens in "Sonuscore The Orchestra Complete 2" after the first or second preset change and I believe this is less likely to happen with other libraries. I found out that this library has absurd CPU Spikes and I've been using it for a long time, but I only noticed it now due to this problem.

So, to prevent the library from crashing, I did what I normally do in some other libraries that crash/glitch the sound:

(In FL Studio) I opened Kontakt > Clicked on the Gear icon at the top > Clicked on the plug and gear icon > Troubleshooting > and I checked the option "Use fixed size buffers" and also the 2 options within the "More" button on the side.

This absurdly reduces CPU Spikes and no longer crashes when changing presets even when holding down a key with a MIDI Keyboard or the PC keyboard itself.

Hope I helped :emoji_thumbsup:

Just FYI, the mitigation for this issue was found on Kontakt end as well (although FL is not without faults here in its threading model), and so the fix will be released with K7.8.1.
