It it time for my annual-ish MIDI month! This is a month(ish) that is all about MIDI Study Packs.

There's a lot going on here! First and foremost, I created five new MIDI Study Packs based on some of my most popular and requested pieces and offer them as a set in the new Beta Bundle, which includes seven packs (8-14) at a very good average price of $11 each. Here's a little info about the included products:

#8 - Elementary Perceivers (ft. Aleksey Igudesman Violin)
An energetic piece for Violin and lite orchestra. Great for becoming greater acquainted with the featured instrument and focuses on creating effective multi-articulation phrases.

#9 - On Top of the World (ft. Metropolis Ark 5)
An inspiring and regal full orchestra piece created solely with Metropolis Ark 5 (plus a little bit of perc from elsewhere). Especially valuable for owners of Ark 5 but I share various other orchestration tips.

(NEW) #10 - One Big Family Adventure (ft. Adventure Strings)
This lively adventure piece for full orchestra uses a handful or libraries from Musical Sampling (Adventure Strings, Adventure Brass, Soaring Strings) but the piece would translate very well to other libraries. I also have a lot of lot of observations about creating pattern-based melodies in the PDF.

(NEW) #11 - As The Years Pass (ft. Joshua Bell Violin)
One of my most popular and requested tracks, I'm finally making this one available. It offers a special degree of value for those who own the Joshua Bell Violin and want to become better acquainted with what it can do, but the rest of the orchestration is solid as well.

(NEW) #12 - Shreya's Theme
This innocent and inspiring full orchestra piece was not a sample library demo, so I got to use as many sample libraries as I wanted--most notable Vista and Pacific Strings by Performance Samples. The MIDI offers a fantastic springboard for balancing a full orch template because of how many things are going on in the orchestration. In the PDF I offer extended advice on how to handle orchestration between melodic phrases.

(NEW) #13 - Inexpressible (ft. Berlin Con Sordino Strings)
This lush string-only piece is stylistically reminiscent of older Hollywood scores by composers like Georges Delerue, John Barry, Ennio Morricone and others. While nice for Berlin Con Sordino Strings owners, I have a lot of recommendations for how to use the MIDI to get to know your own string libraries better for lush, dynamic writing.

(NEW) #14 - Doors and Windows (ft. Benjamin Wallfisch Strings)
The most recent of these pieces, this track will be enjoyed by owners of Benjamin Wallfisch Strings, but the PDF notes also focus on extended techniques for using piano and pizzicato strings in orchestral writing.

COMPLETE YOUR BUNDLE

If you already purchased pack #8, #9, or both of these, send me a DM here and I can hook you up with a custom discount code that brings the the full bundle to an even lower price.

Thanks for your interest and support, everyone! I hope you really enjoy these new products.

Are you new to MIDI Study packs?

MSP1 - $2 (1).png

The idea behind the MIDI study pack is to create a single in-depth orchestration and composition lesson based on the MIDI files of a particular piece of mine. It can also be a great tool for getting to know one or more of the virtual instruments I use in the piece, or to use as a foundation for balancing your orchestral template and getting to know your own sample libraries better. Each pack also comes with WAV stems and a PDF study guide for a guided learning experience. For those of you who are interested in the concept but not entirely sure about it, I'm offering my most popular MIDI Study Pack (#1 - Commanding the Fleet) for a super special price of $2 (normal price: $27) until March 1st. https://store.fortecomposeracademy.com/midi-study-pack-1-commanding-the-fleet

As we dig deeper into MIDI month, I'd love to call a little attention to some of the new MIDI Study packs that just dropped. Today, let's talk about #11: "As the Years Pass".

MSP11 - $17.png

This is one of my most popular and requested tracks, and I'm finally making this one available in a MIDI study pack. I really like the composition and orchestration in general, but the product offers a special degree of value for those who own the Joshua Bell Violin and want to become better acquainted with what it can do. And it can do a lot.

When I submitted the first version of the demo to the Embertone team for review they loved it, but they had even more ideas for ways to leverage the incredibly expansive performance controls to add even more detail, nuance, and variation to the performance. So they tweaked custom control parameters specifically for this demo, and programmed in a few extended articulations. Between us both, the violin work is pretty detailed on the MIDI side. So I made sure to include detailed notes in the included PDF on how to set up the custom settings of the instrument to get the exact same result out of the commercial release product. Below is a (free) video breakdown of the piece and review of the instrument, if you are interested.
