Heyo! Not shure were to post this. Feel free to move this topic. :)
I am in need of some additional clothing. So naturally I was wondering about samples and what's out there.

Please, recommend me some fancy merchandise.

Edit:
I already have this very fancy, awesome shirt:

Absolutely!

In all seriousness, I have a bit mixed feelings about merchandise in general- I mean, it's great to support bands and show people what you are into, but somehow I feel hesitant paying for a company, say, a Spitfire Audio shirt. I mean, should I really pay a company for the great opportunity to advertise them? :P

Well, the artwork looks nice! Google finds about 100 different Cannibal Corpse shirt designs. None of them seem to be this lol. Weird. Unfortunally I am not that much into metal. But Zombies are fine.

Well... the same can be said for... Nike, Adidas, Dolce & Gabbana.
At least with my hobbies I have some connection.

Once at the supermarket the cashier said something along the lines of "cool shirt, that band is so underrated." when I was wearing a somewhat obscure blackmetal band's shirt. And I once saw a dude with a Mgla shirt at another supermarket and thought "man, if I didn't have social anxiety I could have talked to that guy about blackmetal...".
Thinking about how much rarer it is to meet composers in real live, I think there could actually be some value in more people walking around with for example a black shirt that just has the fader part of the orchestral tools logo on it. Without the text part of the logo you wouldn't be advertising them to anyone who doesn't already know them but you might still meet that random stranger that recognizes it and strikes up a conversation about making music with you, if that's what you want. And I think it would actually look good as a shirt design, even to people who have no clue what it is. Nicely minimalist.

I wonder how @Maxime Luft and @OrchestralTools feel about this. The idea to print shirts must have come up internally before. I just had a look at your website and the logo is already in a vector format and the shape would be well suited for flex-print ( https://help.spreadshirt.com/hc/de/articles/206802159-Flex-und-Flockdruck ), which has no setup cost and can be done print-to-order by all the common dropshipping services. You could get this up and running immediately if you wanted. But maybe you don't want to?

I used to wear their "Butchered at Birth" T-shirt back in school. I also used to wear the "Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia" shirt from Dimmu Borgir. You just reminded me of a funny anecdote that happened to me on the very first day of Year 9 - I was wearing my Cannibal Corpse T-shirt along with spiked bracelets, some kinda goth jewellery, black boots, etc. Within 15mn of standing outside the classroom I got approached by a supervisor (guys who check on students outside of the classroom) and got told the principal wanted me in his office immediately. I thought I was in big troubles given my look, especially the "Butchered at Birth" T-shirt (not really appropriate for a school with Year 6 to Year 9 students). Well, he ended up scolding me about my hair which I had dyed red the day before and said I had to change it before I could come back to school... he did not utter a single word about the T-shirt or anything else, as long as I no longer had red hair, then everything was fine!

Google actually blurs it because of "explicit content", but this is the one:

@MartinH. great points you made, not sure how likely one would come across another composer who uses sample libraries in real life but it would certainly be very nice to strike a conversation if that happens.

PS: @MA-Simon sorry for the slight off-topic on your thread

Yes, t-shirts should never be underestimated as a statement!

I would easily pay 15 - 20$ for a Performance Samples Logo shirt.

Here's my price list if you want me to wear merch:

EastWest - 10$
Orchestral Tools - 10$
Cinesamples - 10$
Spitfire - >100$
Ari... - priceless

Edit: during black friday 10 - 20% discount

Years ago Manley gave me these shirts which I still have and wear occasionally.

*ironically the long sleeve which I have two and I wear the most are almost worn out(have had for about 15 years) people either like them, like myself or think they’re incredibly ugly, lol
I’m tempted to purchase two more, yes I’m a sick tasteless bastard.

Always a happy day when one has an excuse to bring this back to light.
It's just a shame they didn't have the courage to really cut loose with the video!
