Playback software?

Open Lane

A Strange Bird.
Hi. I was browsing some drum samples as someone who is relatively inexperienced.

This collection I found says it does not include "playback software."

What is considered playback software? My DAWs are primarily Presonus Studio One and sometimes FL studio. Would either of those work or do I need something else?

Thanks,
Greg

It means these are just WAVs. You can drag and drop them in any audio track, or import them as samples in any sampler. But you won’t have the convenience of an actual player that manages round robins, various mic positions if there are any, velocity layers, mutes for hi-hats etc. etc.

In other words: it is merely “raw content”, i.e. raw recordings of drums. You need to make them “work” yourself.

Maybe check whether a plugin like XLN Active Drums 2, Toontrack Superior Drummer 3 or BFD3 is more suitable for your needs? Depending on your needs there are also many Kontakt based drum libraries (for instance Getgood Drums).
