Using Synchron Player within DAW

Apologize in advance, I'm a NEWBIE.

I have stand-alone Synchron Piano running fine. Next, I tried running it inside a DAW so I could feed it a MIDI file (by someone who can actually play the piano!). I have that working, however the factory presets (Concert, Intimate, Player, etc.) have no effect on the sound when using the MIDI file. If I play from my keyboard, they are effective.

I'm using Cakewalk. Incidentally, there is another window right behind the piano which says "presets" at the top, and it indicates "none selected." This is not on the Synchron piano window.

Thank you,

Mike

That's weird. Inclined to think something is routed incorrectly in Cakewalk but strange things happen.

The MIDI file is on the same track as your MIDI input?

What happens when you go to the Mix tab and change the mic levels?

You're sure there's not two instances of Synchron Piano loaded?

I recall that some people reported incompatibilities between the VST3 version of the VSL Synchron players and Cakewalk, which didn't happen with the VST2 version.

Thanks for the replies. I've read about the VST2 vs. VST3 issue, however, when I load the VST2, it can't find any of my pianos.

Oooh, I think you're on to it. The MIX tab shows no movement. I have a track loaded with the Synchrony piano but I'm not sure how to add the MIDI file to it. MIDI input is set as OMNI. The physical keyboard is on Ch.1. But obviously nothing is coming from there, it's coming from a file on the PC.

Okay I think that's right. If you do the same exact thing, except change "TTS-1" to Synchron Piano in step 5 and 6, does it work correctly?

Yes! That appears to be going to the Synchron piano. Sound quality is bad though, but I'll wrestle with it. Had a little kerfluffle before in that I was sending MIDI out which was actually playing my digital piano! THANK YOU SO MUCH. Should be an easier way. VSL just needs to add a player to the stand-alone version.
