UVI offers 50% off World Suite 2

What if I own Falcon (I do) and must decide between World Suite 2 and possibly 4 Falcon expansions for the roughly the same price (taking coupons into account). Are there ANY falcon expansions that would be a bit indispensable for your music making? Anyone? Bueller?
Try look for Quadra, and if you want save money, check their instruments before buy, because Traveler is I think everything and others are specialize into specific instruments. That means if you buy Traveler, you get same instruemnts as in Metal and Wood for example (I have Traveler nad Metal and Wood). (I realized it late, unfortunately)

And I think the Quadra is more fun then World 2.

No! There are plenty of presets included with Falcon. I'd recommend Synth Anthology or one of the Quadras.
I do have synth anthology II (One thing I've always been confused by is Falcon browser. I don't seem to have a way to separate the Vintage Vault stuff from my other libraries. I own some other things, like Whoosh, but I don't recognize things as being part of Vintage Vault.)

UVI Quadra Traveler is
4.33 GB

World 2 is like 40 GB. It may not be fun, but it may serve to help add small touches where they might be really great in a piece. On the other hand you make a good point, sequencers can be helpful as well. I am not sure which to get but I am sure you're right - they are very different in their capabilities.

I began reading this thread to choose how to use the voucher, but was also hoping to fill out my coverage of exotic and world instruments. Realizing some of the limitations with World Suite 2 is why I started thinking that instead I may possibly just cover some other missing links (for example Psytrance (Hypnotic Drive) - that expansion could be helpful in my case). But I still don't have a good decision ready to go :D

I don't like that when I go to MY UVI, my orders and licenses aren't visible on a per-product basis. ( Not that big a deal - I just wish I kept better track I am having a hard time figuring out if Wave Runner is part of Synth Anthology).

And because I can't separate Vintage Vault 4 from my other libraries, I feel like I have no idea what I own right now :D

Yes, Wave Runner is part of VV.
Click on "My Library" + "VV" in the UVI portal and you'll see everything that's included in VV.

My post will be maybe too critical, but maybe I'll give someone a right decision.

World 2 is big dissapointing (at least for me). I still think I should go with Garritan World instead UVI (maybe sound quality is same or worse, but consistent in sound and more playable I think). There are no loops in garritan which make library much more small. The sound of instruments vary (UVI World 2), some are ok and some are not good. I think World 2 is more source for sound design but not for composing some world music with it, except if you want "compose" music from loops. You got even lot of same loops but in different keys (that means same melody with transposition). That means don't expect too much loops. If you are ok with it, it is good for you.

If you are looking for decent or good world samples I think you will better buy library which specialize for certain instrument or group of instruments (not for whole World). If you don't mind about quality of sound instruments, look for playability and consistency across all instruments, this is more valuable as pure quality of sound (in my opinion). If you have nice sounding string, it not much help if you turn up your mod wheel and it does nothing, or did some little audible change (in better case).

Unfortunately each library with "World" in name where are lot of instruments is very low quality (not only as sound, but mainly playability). I once purchased Ethno World 6 it was disaster (I wonder how it can be rated so high), and I asked for refund or change for another product, fortunately I got another product I choose in that price range.
I guess you purchased UVI World Suite but haven't purchased Garritan. I would stay away from Garritan from past experience but since you mention it I will have a look. (I did - seems pretty poor to be honest). Silk from East West was along similar lines to World Suite (does seem better than Garritan - more care put into it). Silk seemed to be an okay place to create flourishes or touches, if you come across situation where that's what's needed - but say in comparison to Ample Sound Erhu it was nothing to write home about. (They have a nice Guqin as well - they're not cheap). I know what you mean about not being able to get realism and playability. For melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic touches is one thing - but as a featured instrument it's another. (Actually UVI World Suite 2 seems like it may do well in the percussion area - because it's not always so complicated and intensive to sample a percussion instrument.)

I also have some Native Instruments world stuff. I don't have any regrets with the libraries I own but I'm always looking to open some door and the deeper sampled the better. There's a wonderful flute instrument

I can tell that World Suite 2 has some things I can use - I just can't decide if it's a pressing need vs. other things.

I'm not at all sure it's fair to claim that a library that uses 7GB to represent 2 instruments should be part of a collection that uses 40GB for 156.
It's also worth noting that the Nagoya Harp is included in the current NKS deal at NI, and even if nothing else in the collection takes your fancy, even with the devaluing of the second hand market for previously owned individual licenses, it should still be possible to turn that into a no brainer (as long, obviously, if you have the upfront collateral for €179 to not be a problem).
Yep I get your point but nevertheless it is a world instrument and should be part of the collection imho. Maybe Ill get it with the NI content then .. as u say it looks like a no brainer deal for sure. cheers

No, not really. I have everything from UVI installed except the Falcon expansions. Sure, some are okay, but you're better of with the Quadra's or Synth Anthology for that price as @Alchemedia

Yes, I only purchased UVI World 2. If I may ask, when you say Garritan is poor, what you mean? Its sound quality, playability, consistency or all?

All of the above. The "Garritan World Instruments" has 350 instruments and the library size is 900 MB). It's an early 1990s SoundFont quality product packed in somewhat nice looking player. I have never used it for anything and would give my license away for free, but it's non-transferable unfortunately.

I dont think that Quadra has much to do with World 2.

Traveler is four (mainly "world") instruments brought together to create evrything from organic "world" to experimantal.

World 2 is completely different in my opinion. Solo "traditional" instruments and the phrase based multis where you kind of play a complete "World" with a key.....

I love both I have to say and I agree that from what I know Quadra Traveller is by far the most interesting of the Quadra Series and very versatile (from Saloon to Temple ;)).

After doing some video watching I think possibly Quadra traveler is the way to go rather than World Suite 2. It's just that, in the latter, I'm worried that there may only be a small percentage of moderately useful things (or as much as 60 percent - I can't tell), and I'm stingy after all the recent sales. I could get the NI UVI deal instead, but I would need to split the UVI Bundle with someone/multiple people since I already have several items. I don't think it's any surprise that this bundle doesn't include Quadra traveler or Augmented Piano - since those seem like some of the UVI gems.

I own Meteor, Whoosh, Shade, Synth Anthology 4, Emulation II, & FM Suite. And I don't know what I think about Augmented Orchestra because I can't tell if I like the source recordings - I'd like to know for sure but Youtube videos are suspect. Cameron's walkthrough sounds decent but I didn't find his "favorites" to show things I particularly need - or maybe I was waiting to hear the unaffected sounds for a couple of minutes but never got to hear it.

Nagoya harp patches include some very nice sounds but I wasn't overwhelmed with desire for it. 8-bit sounds pretty cool. Ircam Prepared Piano and Quadra mutes sound reasonably nice but I could take them or leave them. So World Suite 2 is out for now. I'll possibly either buy the $199 NI UVI deal if I find someone prepared to do a split, or Quadra Traveler - which sounds pretty interesting.

You are right, but I reacted to post where is asking what to choose instead Word 2 or Falcon Expansion. My advice was instead Falcon Expansion try to look Quadra. I forgot to mention it into my post :) or I didn't understand the question.

I'm trying to get my head around the Quadra Traveler vs Muted and Harmonics vs Metal & Wood thing before bed. And I lost the fight.

I read somewhere how these 3 things compare. But I must have completely forgot exactly how they overlap or complement each other. Metal and Wood has much more in the way of file size. Traveler seems like the ensemble thing, and so if I'm understanding this then it would have more variety (and be a bit like the "traveler" presets in World Suite 2), but since it will include some of the muted's and metal and wood, then people who purchased traveler and one of the latter two will feel they're not getting enough new content, or using up disc space unnecessarily?

But the overall functions are the same?

For those who downloaded Noctua (which is free btw), you can have an extra 25€/$ off voucher (NCT-BDSMCY) for any purchase of $50 or more, through Jan. 31st so it should work with World Suite 2.

The voucher code is unique, I think (it was different for me). It seems to stack with the loyalty voucher. That puts World Suite at $84 for me, and that’s probably where I opt in. Going to wait until the last day of the sale (tomorrow), in case they reveal something else I’d rather use my vouchers on.

84 bucks for WS is no brainer territory for me with a product that offers so much variety and content! Also it’s worth noting that it’s also a silly cheap way to buy in and get a discount when version 3 comes. :)

They won't announce it until after the WS2 sale expires tomorrow.

Just reading this and wanted to share that I own the previous UVI power bundle and I don't think it is possible to split the bundle up with other people. The entire 16 program bundle appears as one ilok locked group. So once you activate any single program within the bundle, all the others automatically activate to your ilok account. Just a heads up in case anyone was interested in purchasing a bundle.

Now I am just waiting to see if UVI surprises us with any more sales before the end of January...it seems the usually have a sale going at this time so I am confused?
They usually announce a new sale on Thursday. They had a UVI 'Lucky' Sale (30-40-50% off for 1-2-3 products) last January but this is tied to Friday the 13th, so there probably won't be one this month.

I think what you're saying may not be a problem - if the intent would be to sell the prior licenses which are duplicated with purchasing the bundle. For example say I already owned Nagoya harp as its own license. I could transfer that license provided that the $25 iLok transfer cost was covered, correct?

(I had put in a question about this to support a few days ago but I think UVI is busy ATM).

[BTW I was happily surprised that UVI let me stack some vouchers for some other items, and they rewarded me with an additional voucher immediately after my purchase. Wow, great company!]
