What's new

IK released Pianoverse piano virtual instrument

Well I don’t know the specifics but I DO like what I’m hearing from @Simeon ……don’t I always though!

I hear a lot of thematic and powerful possibilities and I also get the sense that it will bring my computer to its knees when you bring in those lovely room sounds. 😂

Nonetheless. I like what I hear and it looks like there are some wonderful places this library could take your imagination.

Lord have mercy I don’t need another piano library but I think there could be some nice inspiration here and for the intro price I feel like you’re getting a lot.

The load times appear to be pretty rough though. I hope that can be addressed.

I only listened to the NY Grand audio demo and it sounds pretty good. 20GB per piano is not bad.

Okay, listened to the Yamaha grand, it's the most perfect sounding of the 4.

Ok. Forget about the dynamic layers. Since IK Multimedia has invested in a very sophisticated sampling technique, I'd love to hear some demos of Classical Music: Bach, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, Debussy, Rachmaninov - you get the idea. That's when different grand pianos can shine differently, and the difference really matters from an artistic point of view. Will there be a demo version available?

I like the sound of the Black Diamond which is a first for me as I've never liked the model, I guess the recording process really made a difference. The rest didn't fascinate me as much, probably because I am more familiar with the sound. At this point I'll wait untill the Fazioli is out and only then eventually decide on the purchase because I am not that interested in the sound design part, just the raw sound of the pianos.
+1 On those who asked for more naked demos. It is a plus not a minus to show the in depth recording and editing process in all its glory.

One thing I liked when I've heard the samples is mid to high end sounds nice and not that usual awful mid range sounds that most piano sample libraries produce. Fracture sounds Spotlight being a great example of this, sounds great but awful in place, I know this is due to the Steinway being sampled and maybe it's just resonance. That said, I find a lot of piano libraries from middle C onwards they sound cheap.

Funny the sort of pronounced mid-range on the Spotlight is one of the things I like about it. I think works in context of what that piano is supposed to be....more of a softish-gentle piano, but still maintaining the clarity of a non-felt piano. My grip with the Spotlight, and I'll add that apparently i'm the only one who cares, is the pronounced buzzing on some of the higher notes. I'm told this is a totally natural occurrence on a Steinway, and yet I have other Steinway libraries where it is not loud enough for me to care about it. Kind of a shame (for me) as I love everything else about it.

There are video and audio demos available but there isn't an installable demo version, if you want hands-on to that level you can try a single month which would get you full access to all currently available pianos.

We also will have more examples including classical, I'm told.

Note that we do have some more "naked" types of demos here:
Acoustic/pop:
Soul/gospel:
Classical:
Fusion/jazz:

As well as among the many audio demos on our site https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/pianoverse/index.php?p=audio

But more are also coming as stated above those :)

The buzzing is what I meant to say. I have played on many Steinways and I have never heard this buzzing so I am not sure when people say that what they mean.

Okay, I've downloaded 3 of the 4 instruments and I'm glad I did the monthly plan option for 18 Euro because the plug-in constantly and randomly spikes to 50% - 75% - 90% of the audio performance in Cubase (causing cracks when playing the Yamaha grand). I don't even have to play the instrument for the 'spiking' to occur. It doesn't matter whether space or any other 'onboard' effects are activated or not. I like the Yamaha Grand but I don't like the performance spikes, so for now, I'm not going to make any further purchasing plans.

Does Pianoverse do the same thing when you use it standalone?

I just started to play the Yamaha Grand in the stand-alone application and so far so good. Another thing, when I load the samples (or a new preset), and youtube is playing at the same time, the sound of youtube is distorting in a very digital way. I don't have that with other plug-ins (like Kontakt).

That's just an artifact of a momentary high usage of resources. This happens during loading on my Win10 system from time to time, especially when I try to run standalone VIs at very low latencies playing along with YouTube.

Still no info on the numbers of velocity layers uh? C'mon IK, i know you can do better, as a fellow italian myself, make me proud, forza, so che ce la potete fare, non penso sia una cosa così difficile dare dei semplici dati a dei possibili acquirenti.
