What's new

OUT NOW: Intimate Viola "Iremia" - you can't get closer than this.

Here’s a new testimonial from Lincoln Jaeger:

"intimate viola is a gem of a library. It's the sort of library that you didn't realise you needed until you try it out and it immediately becomes a staple in your template. There is a richness of textures and the Random Rebow patch has become an instant favourite of mine, adding wonderful realism to my pieces."
Lincoln Jaeger, 150+ trailer placements

And I’ve scored a couple of YouTube shorts using only Iremia:

Turns out it sounds really cool if you pitch it down 2 or 3 octaves, so it’s a lot more versatile than “just” a viola.

Intro price (and 50% off all other products) ends this Sunday.

I don't pay much attention to new VI's & samples anymore, so I missed this. But wow, I'm pretty blown away by the warmth and depth, and rustic organic character of the tone, and, ALAS, it is still on sale until the 10th, so it looks like I don't have the excuse of missing the sale to avoid spending the money. Plus, FULL Kontakt (Yay! No NA nonsense!) and the price seems much more than reasonable.

...Q: In anyone's opinion, does this mesh well with Embertone's Josh Bell Violin for assembling parts for a string quartet?

Personally I don’t think this library is really set up for quartet writing per se, though I imagine the Intimate Viola would make a lovely backing track for the Bell Violin. The thing that’s great about this library is the emphasis on the soft dynamics and the intimacy that can be achieved from the super close mics. It’s all so delicate, fragile, and magical.

Yeah it’s not intended for quartet writing, that’s a whole other kettle of fish sampling wise. It’s very focused on getting the most character out of the unusual way it was recorded, focusing on texture and intimacy, even in the more static sustains - there's something very human about the bow noise and all the little imperfections that you capture when you record this close.

I'm very interested in this! Does it have a legato mode?
No there’s no legato. With the studio time I had available legato would have been the only thing I could do - legato in solo string is incredibly difficult and time consuming to do well, so it was doing this or just legato and nothing else.

I’m experimenting with adding a scripted legato in a free update though.

How long is the sale now? Is it too late to pull trigger next week? Says

$59.40

Plan to run that a few more days? Might get myself a Christmas present (Iremia viola)

In the middle of launching the winter sale, literally still updating the website, so haven't announced it yet. You must have visited the website right after I adjusted the price. It will run until January 3rd.

Anyway, the Winter Sale is now live, even if not yet fully announced. A flat 40% off everything, including Iremia (except bundles, which are unavailable during the sale - 40% off individual libraries is a better deal anyway)

EDIT: January 10 - so ends tomorrow
