What's new

RELEASED: INCIRIOS - Next Generation Sampler & Audio Engine + Solo Woodwinds + Intro prices

@INCIRIOS I spoke with Paul (this may or may not be you) via email back in 2022 regarding the promised updates to the Concert Grand, and this is what was mentioned:

I wanted to know, does this update include new recordings? What improvements have been made to the library? I would definitely like to know since I don't have unlimited bandwidth. Can't wait to hear back!
@INCIRIOS
I'm also interested in that, because the piano is smaller in size than the version for Kontakt, is it a matter of sample compression or was the piano re-sampled because it doesn't sound the same in both versions, or at least that's what I hear. Thank you.

@INCIRIOS appears to have dodged answering this inquiry twice now, nothing may have been updated with the library.

This is unfortunate, it has good potential but I certainly wouldn't advise new customers to buy it with the flaws in its current state.

All instruments were redone, but nothing was resampled as we did not return to that studio, the woodwinds were recorded in another studio that we have since decided to stick to (we needed to seek other options during covid for remote recording, and the room and recording professionalism made us fall in love with it).

No instruments use the original wavs, I recut and re-edited everything to ensure users had access to the raw recordings, with only a bit of de-noising.

In terms of improvements a piano gets from INCIRIOS; zero ram mode, mic merging, not needing to pay for kontakt to use it, completely editable script, level matched releases, a more 'true' repeal since this is also done with level matching (if you want to take a look at the resonance node editor you'll find it does not have any logic for repedalling , instead you get that for free, since each note can match against the samplers that are still ringing out) this kind of thing is just not possible in the previous version.

The samples are smaller due to two different codes I've written for INCIRIOS.

Naturally more improvements are still on the way for this free upgrade to INCIRIOS, hope you're all enjoying it!

I don't know if it's a bug in INCIRIOS or because of me and my ignorance, but I'd better say because I don't have any problems with other pianos. With some midi files INCIRIOS piano works, but with some the whole program goes crazy, all the microphone volume buttons go down, the pan goes all the way to the left and there is no sound. All attempts to bring the piano to life do not help until I reload it and remove that midi file. The same midi files work normally on other pianos. Otherwise I use Reaper as my DAW.

Sounds like an issue with something parsing midi incorrectly, mind sending one of the midis to [email protected]?

I'm looking forward to use the player in the future, because of the exciting features. I've already licensed the piano and the strings, but pity is I'm still on macOS Monterey and won't upgrade anytime soon. :(

You can still use it as a plugin (vst3/au) on macos, the macos version is just for the standalone (although I'm looking at what breaking changes the OS might make to see if I can reduce it)

Oh, didn't know that. Thanks for the clarification! Will try it.

Thank you for responding, it's great to have clarification on the changes and current state of the piano library. I like that you re-edited the wavs so there isn't much de-noising and more of the raw sound of the Steinway.

You mentioned that you level-matched the releases, in the past version, there was an issue of uneven timbre changes from note to note. Since this is built on a completely new script I'm guessing this was also fixed?

Generally, most support is done through support contacts - VI Control is checked far less often and since this is a commercial thread, typically used for specifically announcing things rather than support follow-ups.

The piano was re-edited yes, timbre should still match the real recordings that were done of the live instrument. Timbre changes are part of the samples themselves so not really something scripting ever changes - smoothness over velocity is another question though since INCIRIOS handles things in a much better manner through a process of internal normalization and re-distribution on a per-note basis, so the instrument now matches the exact dynamic range of the recordings, which the Kontakt version didn't since everything was normalized and then re-balanced, whereas INCIRIOS can take in non-normalized samples as balances them based on each key.

@INCIRIOS quite liking my initial run-through of the new engine! :)

Quick question - is there a setting that allows for legato notes to transition back to the prior note if it is still held down when a new note is released?

Example, going from C4 to D4, with C4 held down through the duration of the D4 note, releasing D4 transitions back to C4 instead of requiring C4 to be pressed again to transition from D4 to C4.

There's probably an easier way of explaining that. o_O

There's not right now as we were mimicking the same legato style as our Kontakt instruments. This is however something we will add to our to-do list.

Hi. I’m interested in trying to develop libraries for personal use (at least initially). Is that possible yet? If not, any idea when we will be able to?

Hi,

Yes, you can create your own instruments for personal use. There's a brief guide on the site, still working on some more in-depth videos, but feel free to reach out if you have any questions via our support form.

This engine and the new Light & Sound Chamber Strings should be getting FAR more attention. This is one of the better Kontakt alternatives out there. And the new version of chamber strings sounds fantastic.

By the way, the "merge mics" function in Incirios should be available in EVERY player, including Kontakt.
