The definitive organ for film scoring: Millennium Organ - SoundOnSound Special!

Those videos from Simeon are so cool! He really helped pushing the whole Streamtech Music brand in its early days. And I knew the beginning wouldn't be easy but thanks to him (and of course others, particularly on VI-C) we're off to a great start with many exciting releases to come :)
Simeon is a huge positive force, I am happy he’s part of this community. I also happened to notice Pete Calandra announced a Millennium Organ review video (after NAMM). And it is cool that you’re off to a good start! I hope one of these days you’ll turn your attention to woodwinds ;)

If that's true, then take my money now!!! Out of curiosity, are you currently at NAMM Maxime? I'm still jet-lagged and awake way too early but planning the final day atm, would be cool to meet in person.
Unfortunately I wasn't there, but I really want to attend the next one. Right now my schedule keeps me quite busy, so once things get normalised a bit and we release our next libraries, I'm sure I'll be able to go there. That'd be fun 😎

Just took note of that! I'm 100% sure we can make something interesting going in this direction for 2024.

Hint, for 2025. I am a ridiculous hoarder of saxophone samples. I think I have them “all”. The usual suspects. VSL, Xsample, Duplex, VG, Audio Modeling, Acousticsamples. All have their strengths. But there is a huge lack of hardcore wild freejazz loud growling “East Coast” sax samples. I am not entirely sure if such a thing would slot in with your personal aesthetic hehe, but while I’m here trying to influence you, I figured I’d might as well mention it.

That said: civilized beautifully recorded woodwinds would be welcomed too! I think there is room for an Iconic Bass Clarinet or a Majestic Bassoon!

John Belinguier, the sound engineer behind our recordings, went back to record in Saint-Jean-de-Malte.

The result is a comparison video with the 'real-life' Millennium Organ VS our Kontakt sampled version:

I personally find it super interesting! And the result is surprisingly extremely close I think :) Perhaps less on the short notes, I'll admit it!

Some encouragement from me to you - I’ve been sampling pipe organs for Hauptwerk for nearly 20 years now, so I am pretty picky about sound. The one thing most people get wrong are the releases - there’s a definite sound to the pipe valve closing. Of all the non-Hauptwerk stuff I’ve heard, yours is one of the better ones!

I do agree the shorts aren’t quite like the real thing, but short notes and releases are difficult. When recording for Hauptwerk in a reverberant room, one must do a short and a medium release as well as the release that goes with a sustain. Hauptwerk does some fancy calculations to interpolate and make it all sound right, but it still requires a lot of tweaking. I’m not sure Kontakt has the tools to dive quite so deep, so it’s more of a challenge.

So, bravo - this would be a set I’d buy if I needed it!
