What's new

Introducing Musio 1 - The Non-Subscription Option!

Why must this code exist?!? I have a sub until Sept of next year and I don't think it makes sense for me to pull the trigger as I am already over-budget. Great deal, though.
I think it is fine to wait, with Musio 2 next year there will be more included though it will be more expensive (in the same way Komplete increases in price). I have a weakness for bargains, especially when they add extra mics it is an amazing price.

The other element that makes this interesting is that it is quick to get going and has a lot of variety. Against it is the truth that I don’t like the sound as much as other libraries but it does seem to cut through really well when used.

As a recent Musio 1 owner, I'm on the fence as to whether I should pick up Kontakt versions of CineStrings Runs and/or Hollywoodwinds (currently on sale), since Musio does not currently contain the scale runs of these products. Is there any confidence that this functionality will be added to Musio? Apologies in advance if I missed this in an earlier discussion.

It's not going to happen super-soon, but they have said they want to do it at some stage.

I think having this functionality up and running for Musio 2 could be important, but their own promises work against that actually. They've said that Musio 1 owners will get all player and existing library updates, so all those time-synced elements of libraries like HollywoodWinds will get included. So that's not a selling point for Musio 2, ergo maybe it won't be a top priority. IMO it's likely to be a year or more away.

Thanks for your input! That helped me to decide to wait on getting the Kontakt versions for now, especially since more sales will most certainly pop up in the future.

I don’t get the impression this means what you’re implying it means.

If it’s not ported to Musio 1 by the end of this year 2023, then it won’t be part of Musio 1 ever.

That’s my understanding.

Different from “any Kontakt library CineSamples sells today, 2023, will eventually become part of Musio 1”
^^^ that’s not going to be the way it works, as I understand.

Am I wrong?

Yes more sales will happen. And there’s a three months for $0.99 cents sale going on right now too.

CineStrings would be a brand new product to Musio, so that would be new to Musio 2 if it appeared in 2024. But HollywoodWinds, Impact Collision Designer and I think a few others are already in Musio 1, albeit in a very filleted version. My understanding is then that these products would get updated, and updates are included in the Musio 1 deal.

Could be wrong tho.

That’s my understanding.
Not entirely correct. Engine improvements will go out to all Musio users, regardless which generation or tier they’re on.

So the capability for runs (if and when added) would be there for Musio1 owners, but only for the libraries they’ve licensed that would (eventually) make use of the functionality.

everything listed in the ‘what’s included’ page on musio.com will be included with musio1 even if it’s not released by tomorrow.

if you own musio1 you will get ‘Africa’, ‘Ireland’, ‘Scotland’ and ’Tina Guo Erhu’ included when they’re released. Whenever that may be.

You also get any updates to any collection that is part of Musio1. Plus any and all updates to the player. This includes the multiple mic mixes for collections you get with Musio1 and any new fx or player features.

If any additional articulations are included for say cineHarps you will get them if you have Musio1 even if they’re not released until 2025. this goes for any updates to any included collections.

You will basically get all the updates to the player and existing collections, you just won’t get new collections.

The question I was responding to included specifically asking about CineStrings Runs.

I don’t see CineStrings Runs on that page.

It’s a separate product, isn’t it?

Not a feature within one of the CineStrings packages included in Musio 1?

You actually can see, which libraries are included in the package "Musio 1"...

Right, I was specifically latching on to the product called CineStrings Runs.

Hope I’m not creating more confusion and we are all able to sort out what’s what in the next day or so!

Again I could be wrong so feel free to correct me again if I’m missing anything.

Cinestrings runs isn’t one of the musio1 collections so you can reasonably assume it won’t be included. It’s also not included in the list of collections that are ‘coming’ so until they’ve announced it, I’d assume it’s not going to come.

I’m guessing they have a ton to do before they can even start thinking about upgrading the player engine to be able to support stuff like ‘runs’.

I tried out Musio, but all the instruments I tried (probably 4 random ones in CinePerc plus 2-3 others) had way too much reverb for my use, even with reverb turned all the way down. I understand from this thread and the musio website that individual mic mixing is coming soon, however my 30 trial is also ending soon and I don't know which will happen first :). Can someone with CineSamples experience, notably CinePerc, comment on just how 'dry' the samples are if you only use the close mics (or based on the image under 'advanced mixing controls" Coming Soon section, maybe just the dry mix)?

Or maybe better, to the CineSamples folks: do you have any examples on showing how the advanced mixing controls will work, from one extreme to the other? Or at least what wet/dry setting Musio is currently using? I have a feeling it's pretty much "different for every instrument" though :)

What are the other instruments that you tried besides Cineperc? Also, are you sure that you do not have any other reverb activated in your DAW?

I'm still on the sub — I like a lot of the libraries over all, but for me in Cubase, I can be playing an instrument and it crashes or overloads quite a bit... Nowadays it crashes and its assigned track in Cubase even disappears? Very odd stuff. None of my other plugins ever does this...

I can’t remember offhand (at least one of the new Ireland instruments) - I’ll try a few more tonight (edit: drums in blue, Iceland lyre, one from each of the CinePerc packs). But yeah I’m sure my DAW wasn’t adding any reverb.

I pulled the trigger on Musio 1 but not sure if I did good... It seemed to perform quite well during my brief tests, but now I have a simple project with 13 active tracks, each playing a monophonic line (whole basic orchestra, legato patches), and Musio activity indicator hits 100% and playback stutters. I don't have the greatest CPU (3rd gen i5), but still I think it should be able to handle such a modest load. Overall, Windows task manager shows only ~40% CPU utilization for my DAW with Musio. Is anyone experiening something similar?

If you're using Windows, make sure to add a folder exclusion for the Musio sample folder in Windows Defender settings.

I did. It improved the initial loading time of the instuments. However, this thing with high CPU/activity is caused by something else, I guess...

Is your machine optimized for audio?
Power scheme at Ultimate Performance or High performance?
Are the samples on SSD? Is file system NTFS? (Don't use ExFAT!)
Which DAW?

Just asking out of curiosity, you should be able to run it on a potato... I run it on a 250$ i3 laptop with no issues at all
