Any tips for browsing around Bioscape?
Hi Jon, thanks you for your feedback.
In Bioscape, there are several browsing options, including browsing presets, browsing the sound source categories, and the sound sources themselves - so let’s break down the navigation below.
When you click the dropdown menu above each layer you will find 18 very different sound source categories ranging from bowed to deserts to drones, ice, water, wind etc.
When you have selected a sound source category you can browse this category by clicking directly on the window / sample layer, which then gives you access to the individual sound sources from that specific category.
You can't filter the sounds further. From this point, you will need to manually explore the sounds within each category to discover the one that best fits your needs. This exploration can often be an enjoyable process in itself, leading to unexpected and interesting finds!
Regarding the presets (or snapshots, as they are called in Kontakt) these are crafted using the sound sources in Bioscape. The presets are categorized into 10 different groups for easier browsing.
If you are using Komplete Kontrol software, you can refine your search further, since each preset is tagged with specific parameters, allowing you to filter them based on sound type (bowed, effects, soundscapes etc.) and by character (airy, bright, dark, evolving, percussive etc.).
I hope this clarifies some of the navigation around Bioscape.
