In my opinion the current update sounds better than any other version.

agreed - I was disappointed at first then realized I had to reload the patches again post update for the new update to be active. Not doing that I rendered one and the volume was way off. Oddly. Good job OT!

So reminder - reload the patches if you want to hear the updates if opening existing project.

Here's a preset for each section with Polymaps set up for X-fade via CC20. Would be interesting to hear your thoughts (or anyone else who hasn't tried this method) after giving them a whirl. I'm hoping the supposed SINE update that's been mentioned as coming out this quarter will make this less of a PITA or be the default way this works when it lands.
Thank you for sharing!

I think it's a good update. Legatos are almost perfect now for my taste, especially when I lower the legato volume slightly from preset volume.

I don't understand the ostinato legato though? How am I meant to use it?

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, reloading patches to use the update, does it means removing al loaded articulation in SINE pr. instrument and then readjust al settings + mic mix?

First, violins alone. Then 2 looong notes of violas to check vibrato. Then cellos. Then the whole string section. Different BPM as well, just to see how vibrato/longs/transitions work.

1. Berlin Strings (update):

2. Similar section sizes, Spitfire Appassionata:

3. And because everyone loves to compare to CSS, here you go with the best string legato ever programmed:

EDIT: I really, really don't like most of OT baked in on/off vibrato. This one included.
Thanks for sharing! Berlin Strings’s legato may not be the « winner » in these examples, but I personally much prefer its tone compared to the others.

As a side note I just noticed that there is also update for Tableau Solo Strings. Dunno if this is new thing and if it has something to do with legato or not, but at least I didn't notice it earlier.

I think the CSS legato sounds good but it's extremely exaggerated and I have a feeling that might be why it sounds good without any additional programming.

Appassionata sounds terrible here, I use it myself and do not recognise those transitions. Maybe I avoid faster stuff unconsciously?

I have such huge problems every time an update is going out.
Downloads stops, or going up to several hours per mic, or the downloader halts not showing anything or progressing.

Anyone is facing this?

OT support have been useless on this specific issue. Recommending to delete files, reinstall the entire library etc, which is not helping, just making things worst.

My update died once during the download, but a subsequent attempt picked up where it left left off and completed without issue.

To my hobbyist ears the legato in Berlin Strings has been improved so much that it's no longer painful to listen to :)

Before I'd literally sit while listening and think, "oh man, these legato transitions are terrible."

Now I find myself enjoying the music, without giving the legato transitions any thought. They don't stand out as being terrible now, not for me anyway.

OT updated the individual instrument audio examples on the Berlin Strings homepage, didn't they?

The examples sound different than I remember. More "tender"-sounding / delicate - less aggressive somehow.

CSS still playing chess whilst the rest are playing checkers...

Negative, the files are all created in 2021 according to Chrome Dev tools.

I'm not seeing it. Maybe it's an update from earlier?
