What's new

Favorite Superior Drummer SDX?

Thanks i'll check that one out
The new Area 33 Origin (not the original Area 33) is for more 70s-90s.

My experience with FoR is that it’s a bit more esoteric, so not sure it’s perfect for what you want.

If I was starting over, I would try A33 Origin. One last thing - these libraries are pretty easily resellable if you end up not loving them.

I don't have the Fields of Rock but i can tell you that the dynamics in the Legacy Of Rock SDX are some of the best Toontrack ever made. Also the Death kits in D&D (especially the Yamaha) can nail pretty much anything.

If you really want to play Rock, you can't beat the clarity and details in the Death kits, from the cymbals to the toms to the snare to everything in between.

But if you want to zoom in exclusively on Bonham, Legacy Of Rock is hard to beat...

I think i'm just going to have to get it out of my head that one SDX will do it all and just roll the dice on one for now, upgrade my SSDs and then consider filling in the gaps later on.

I would love to frankenstein the hats of Legacy with the Snares of FOR. Area 33 Origin seems interesting but need more time to analyse the demos.

Toontrack has a process for it. They charge you $15 for the process: https://www.toontrack.com/product/license-transfer/

I've bought and sold many libraries. SDX typically go for ~$100 on Knobcloud: https://knobcloud.com/search?search_key=sdx
I've wondered about selling a bunch of EZX kits as I mostly just use the SD ones now - even if netting more than $20 or so per kit is unlikely. What makes me nervous, though, is losing access to the midi - if, indeed, you do lose the midi. Do you know if, when you transfer a license, you're surrendering both the kits and the midi, or just the kits?

Thank you! I have so many that I never use....

Nearly positive you lose the midi, too.

Take that midi folder and place it somewhere else, uninstall the sdx and then place the midi again in the same folder. Or, place the midi folder under the user midi folder.

Truth be told, the midi part of any EZ(X,K,B) And SD isn't checked against the installer/licenser.

Today I learned!

New to the fourm. I’ve read a lot of great discussions on here….

After checking out all of the SD threads, I dove in a couple weeks ago. Lots of practical suggestions on here and it led me to the core program and Decades + Legacy of Rock. Very impressive so far. I’m mostly interested in the tones those SDXs are based on, along with some drier and funkier sounds. Those seemed like the best fit.

It’s a serious program that I’m going to have to spend some time with, but sounds great and there are a lot of dynamics and options. That said, I’ve also heard great clips from Rooms of Hansa and and Hugh Padgam Hitmaker.

Is this site legit for buyers too? There are some tempting prices...
Yes, have bought plenty on knobcloud. You should always do PayPal “goods and services” which has refund protection, as knobcloud is basically just a forum with no protections built in.

That's what I was concerned about. Thanks for the info!

Watching Mike Portnoy's recent videos on Drumeo. His kit and cymbals are bad$%^ and i'm fairly confident that the Death SDX can nail his sound. Love that SDX.
