Anyone using the tenor sax with the new Soundpaint player? Is it better than the first version? Does it sound as good as the demos? I’m intrigued with the “colors” control.
I have it. Sounds good, wouldn’t say it sounds better, but the colors knob works well on most sounds. The sax has the same legato behaviour as all / most legacy 8Dio wind instruments, such as Claire, which some people really dislike.
The bari is an excellent sample too. I used it for the melody in the final bars of this little bit of music:
2:16 onwards
Here we go. Haven’t listened yet. Natalie did a good job with the chamber strings demo. Curious how she handles the solo strings, never a particular highlight of Anthology (for me personally).
$50, so a 25 bucks crossgrade I guess. Out February 8.
Correct. And given the limited number of articulations. But of course this gears**t bought it. Like to think of myself as a collectioneur. This does seem quite a bit of money for the solo strings from that library as they were more like first chairs than dedicated solo instruments for me.
Cool, this makes me curious. They sound really nice, nothing like the Anthology Solo Violin that I have.
I know it's just probably 8Dio's usual magical sample massaging going on there and that I wouldn't get it to sound that good. So I would like to know, once and for all, how do they do it?!
Ha! Yes, understood. I do think having these in Soundpaint will make them more fun than they would have been. My old Agitato, Adagio, and Century Vi's gather dust these days, but I like the idea of warping and Arp-ing some of this stuff for rock tracks.Don‘t expect Performance Samples lyrical legatos for 25 bucks. That said, I do like to have these ‘leaders‘ in my Soundpaint sample pool. One note stretching, and turning time- and colors-knobs on samples is fun.
Some bits sounds really good and other bits entirely and utterly fake. Which in and of itself can also be a thing of beauty of course.
I do question why SP have insisted to make this set of recordings their first foray into putting solo stuff into Soundpaint, rather than taking the arguably deeper and to my ears way better sounding Deep Studio series of instruments. Maybe it makes sense to complete the Adastra range. Or maybe the sheer depth of the other sample collection just makes it too big of a port to pull off quickly?
I hear you. And yes, Soundpaint as a piece of software - as well as the concept behind it - is a rather unique and cool option these days.Ha! Yes, understood. I can't say I'm the biggest 8Dio fan after the Cory debacle, but I have to pay grudging respect for Soundpaint as an instrument. I liked it from the beginning
