What's new

Discussion Thread for Soundpaint Products

Holy shit, that color option is absolutely awesome. With the new user sample import, I can say the 3.0 update is a great way to start the new year. This is becoming one of my favourite sound mangling platforms for sure
It is indeed looking more and more impressive for every update! What a cool time to live in! When I started using sample libraries in ca 2009-2010 there wasn't much else than VSL and Kontakt (as I remember it, but I was probably not very aware of everything, and I can't remember when EW's PLAY came out).

I am creating orchestral solo instruments using USI 2.0 as we speak, importing the free IRCAM SOL samples (that have three recorded velocity layers) and it works like a charm. Then playing with color and plenty of Time modules in the rack… it is very simple, very accessible and fast. And sounds great. Next up are my fresh S+A Spectres WAVs. Creating unique “instruments” with acoustic high quality samples is fun alright.

Is it possible now to also use the modwheel to blend/morph between different dynamic layers for longs (in a self created instrument/part)? I guess not but I wasn't completely sure.

Haven’t tried that, but I may have some tome tomorrow to check. Will report back.
Edit: so - today I didn’t find the time. But I will look into this.

Adastra Chamber Strings:

Amazing songwriting by Natalie Tenenbaum. The vocals are so good. And the mix is very well done too. Great musician and composer.

Now available. 50% Crossgrade from Adagio / Anthology = $30. Not bad.

The crossgrade price is really tempting. I also got an email with a code but it didn't say that this is a crossgrade (although I have Anthology), so I was asking myself if this is some sale (that's officially not a sale).

Could be, I thought the same and ultimately decided to not share the code here.

Ah ok. So maybe you can actually combine this with an actual crossgrade discount to essentially get the whole package for 15 $. I guess that this won't work but with this company you never know ...

I don’t think so. Usually their cart partner software only allows one code to be used. They do not stack so to speak.

Edit: added this extended version with a brilliant intro:

I love it when people as talented as Natalie Tenenbaum are asked to write and arrange demo songs. She’s such a talent on piano, as an arranger and composer. This ^ has got to be one of the best demos I’ve heard so far.

Hello!, a simple question... is it also necessary to be connected to the Internet to be able to install version 3.0? Thank you!

You’ll need it to download the updates and the libraries obviously. But you can use SP on an offline computer.

For many years I have worked without an Internet connection, I mean I have bought many libraries using another computer for that purpose, but when working/composing there is nothing like the security of being offline. What does "sp" mean? Thanks again.

Yeah, I think everyone subscribed to the 8dio mailing list got the discount code. I don't own any 8dio string libraries and still got the code. Which is fine by me, $30 seems like a fair value for a new product with old samples.

I used soundpaint for a few projects now and I must say I love using soundpaint and I don't understand why it is not more popular. Sure, it's still missing some essential features, the quality control (like leveling the individual librarys and patches) could be better and also the marketing is a bit pompous.
But the user interface is very intuitive and easy to use and the effect racks (esp. the scatter delay and the shimmer reverb) sound amazing. Plus they do have some really talented sound designers in my opinion and some amazing samples.

SP = Soundpaint

Walkthrough of 3.0 update, which is now available for download

Consistently the best of the anti-Kontakt sampling engines.

By the way, I've downloaded 3.0, but there doesn't seem to be a "color" setting on the menu. ??

EDIT: Nevermind. Found it. You have to click on the teardrop.
