Music that makes you cry

When this came out tears fell down the cheek at 'another statue coming down in a town near you' and Im not even American. A greek woman asked 'why do you play this nonstop with tears in your eyes, you are not even from USA'.

The ending of Mahler 2nd, tears of joy every single time, provided I have listened (or played) through the whole symphony. Get's me every time, whether listening or on stage.

And for sadness, the end of La Boheme when Mimi dies:

I also worked on an amazing production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame a few years ago, and the ending of that got me and several other band members sometimes, even after more than 50 shows - but that was more to do with the cast being so damn good than the music itself, I think...I've never listened to it since, but there was just something about that production that clicked and made an emotional experience almost every night.

These two songs get me every durned time. Partly the back story in each, but they.get.me.every.time, could be 6 in a row on repeat, not that I would do such a thing. :emoji_blush:

Rainy Days and Mondays: That harmonica, the lyrics, Karen Carpenter's multiple talents, her beautiful voice, and tragic ending ... all converge in my tear ducts.

Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald: Gordon Lightfoot's masterpiece, designed to evoke a visceral response in the listener ... such lyrical beauty depicting a grave tragedy, from a rich deep tradition, zaps me.

Sibelius - Symphony No. 2 - Finale

Sibelius - Symphony No. 7

I've had some watery eyes at both of their glorious endings.
With No. 7 being one of the top candidates for Greatest Ending of All Time™ :)
