What's new

I'm building Wavekit an audio hosting service

Fantastic work! On your comparative list, you can add that Disco does not allow metrics on embedded playlists, only on directly shared ones. That's the reason I opted out of using their services.

Hello and congratulations for this project! I have few questions, don't know if they were asked already:

- Do you include visitor's usage logs or metrics? (e.g. usage history of the audio >start play, >stop, >click, >volume, NOT tracking I.P)
- I am not a web programmer, would you include installation or usage instructions in the subscription?

As an idea I think for "pro" users it would be nice to add some "notes" (cursor lines) or comments à la SoundCloud, but only temporary and only visible to the visitor/customer. Example: You are a sound designer, you offer sounds on your website, a producer wants to mark certain moments of the audio file to decide whether to buy the audio/music or not.

My best wishes for success!

Jorge

Thanks Jorge!

We offer some anonymous usage metrics of the embedded players. More info about this in our docs.

We have some docs on how to embed the players in your website. If you send me a private message here on VI-C or an email at [email protected] I'd be happy to help you based on your current website situation (WordPress, Notion, static HTML, Wix, etc).

Regarding the notes, it's in my to-do list but very low priority for now.

Saludos!

I wish I'd seen this thread before hacking together a wavesurfer.js player for my site.
(sigh.)
I'll keep following as a backup though...

Great work, Pier.

Hey @Pier , I just saw this deal! Maybe it will be of use to you or others?!

BTW this is not Wordpress hosting. It's a control panel that allows you to install Wordpress on cloud/hosting providers. On top of the control panel you need to pay for the actual hosting.

I'm not going to say it's a scam but the marketing is misleading. "Unlimited Database Storage Capacity" yeah no shit you're paying someone else for that.

If you want a cheap WP host check this Canadian company. For a quality solution I would just get a VPS with Vultr but if that's too complex maybe go with Kinsta.

Thank you for your advice to us/me ignorant of the matter! :) <3

I would be interested in trying it out for my store, but the start 30 day trial gives me an HTTP ERROR 404.
How much would it cost after the 30 day trial?
You're probably looking at an old preview of the marketing site where the signup wasn't implemented yet.

Just sent you a private message with more info.

Edit:

To prevent any future confusions I've deleted the links to previews of the marketing site.

I don't know if this has been mentioned and indeed if it's commercially viable, however, what about having a player that is able to play multi-track/stems (i.e. you can mute/solo individual stems during playback). Might be useful for us audiophiles and demos.

Yeah I have plans for more specialized players like multitrack, A/B comparisons, etc.

But the priority right now is solving the general use case. I feel the single audio player is good enough for now but the playlist player is still lacking.

Never thought of A/B comparison, but I guess it the same concept. Good luck!
