What's new

Compositions on Staffpad.

Thanks for your great compliments! This took just about 3 weeks from start to finish. Berlin libraries across the board. Very, very minimal processing/mastering in the DAW, just saw gentle EQ, reverb, compression, etc. What you’re hearing is 95% of the way there with just Staffpad itself!
Thanks! Finishing a work of this length and complexity in three weeks is really an impressive feat.

May I ask if you exported individual tracks or the stereo output from StaffPad into the DAW?

I've listened through the entire piece twice, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope you can get this performed by a live orchestra at some point, because it deserves to be heard!

I appreciate you and am so glad you’re enjoying the piece. I too would love to have it played by an orchestra.

For mastering, I only exported and worked with the stereo output. It really is remarkable how little work needs to be done for Staffpad to sound great. I’m sure though that if I was more experienced at mixing, I could’ve benefitted from exporting the stems and working on those. But I was happy enough with how it sounded.

What the...?
How?? How the hell? How the frigging how??

Can I please throw money at you to create a Staffpad course? Please??
The irony is that even creating a course would amount to nothing, because I’m just using the app in the most basic sense. No magical tricks to share unfortunately… I appreciate your compliments!

I mean, I completely understand that the reason your piece sounds amazing is because of your composition and orchestration itself, not any tech tricks. But when I just use the dynamic markings, it always seems to require a great deal of finessing in the automation before it sounds "right" to me. So it's astonishing that you've been able to get that aspect to work so well without additional finessing. Guess I'll keep plugging away....

@Jacob Fanto will be a tough act to follow, but I'd have to post this at some point. As the description says, I wanted write something about a desert adventure, with mysticism, splendour, and something lurking beneath the sands. This is what came out.

Open to any and all feedback and criticism. Thank you for listening.

Hi everybody! I'm very excited to share this piece I've written entirely on StaffPad. Once again, its power to write away from a "computer/keyboard" setup, brought me somewhere unexpected!
Here you can find the score and parts too: https://www.federicosolazzo.com/tides

This is another little story exploring the Yin and yang, the balance and interaction between water and air, shade and light, major and minor. Recorded in the same iconic studio and room where Ennio Morricone made 'Nuovo Cinema Paradiso' and Nino Rota 'The Godfather', this piece is the teaser of a bigger 15-20 min (3-4 movements) piece I plan to write soon.

String rec setup: 7,6,5,4,3. Very curious to know what you guys think about it!

PS: The room sounds truly fantastic (we've just added a bit of Bricasti Mechanics Hall) and those players are GREAT!

If you are interested in joining the next shared session (remotely or on location in Rome), check this post here!
