Staffpad Update Notification Thread

for me, the purchased sounds are identical or even slightly improved to what they were before.

the built in sounds it comes with are not as good.

but... I think the idea is you download the new muse sounds instead from the staffpad store page... those are much better than the old library by a very long way. but also bigger... I guess the idea is to encourage you to get those really.

and then there is video and so on. so its a big improvement overall but you do need the extra download and space.

I think I updated it... sound wise everything is fine. When I want to change clefs, the little clef images are nearly entirely obscured. Not tried the more advanced new features yet.

Thanks for the update

Been quiet in the Staffpad section here, wondered if people had moved on

FWIW, I inquired if a pretty lenghty list of nuisances, sources of bewilderment and bugs is still being worked on and the answer is yes.

Last versions brought pretty substantial upgrades and hotfixes and we're in for more, so nothing else to do in the meantime, but to try and excel at composing one score at a time...😂

Not that this is the 'feature request' thread... But the lack of pro-level libraries, along with the many longstanding playback bugs is the biggest thing holding me back from using Staffpad professionally.

For film/game scoring, (or even composition in general) the product that Staffpad produces is just not viable in terms of quality-- there are just too many playback bugs and quirks, especially for faster music. Which is frustrating, because as I'm sure we all know-- it's so close.

its really close and im really liking the muse sounds. once they get all the playback bugs out i can def work with those for lots of things. ive done a few things for games straight outta staffpad. here is a piece i did for a VA release that wanted cutups and 4'33" length. i think staffpad did a great job!

I just don’t understand why we can’t get any new pro-level libraries. Surely not all of the sample companies are adverse to having their products on StaffPad. I have long wished for native flutes. And Berlin con sordino strings would be high on my list.
I'm guessing once David sold to Ultimate Guitar, the same big sample developers felt their IP could be xferred to the desktop MuseScore and probably shied away from that. Or else they never figured that StaffPad would end up making their libraries sound BETTER than their full blown versions at a fraction of the cost.

That said, yeah I wish more developers jumped on SP so we could get Berlin Con Sord strings... or even Project SAM and VSL too. Sigh.

I'm super happy that Muse Choir and guitars made it over to Staffpad. And saxes. The previous ones were not great but the Muse Saxes are pretty solid. I guess our only hope is that David or his team continue to do curated library expansions for StaffPad as time marches on.
