NotePerformer 4 Expectations or Wishes

It's 96GB RAM, but the NPPE template sometimes goes higher than that...
Thanks for the kind feedback on your system RAM.

so I'm pretty sure it's making use of the M2 SSDs I set up as a memory swap. Thanks!
This M2 SSDs memory swap is some kind of manual setting that has to be done manually? I never hear of this, do you mind please pointing me towards some more info?

Many thanks and best,

Mx

FYI, I tried adding in a Synchron piano in Dorico alongside NotePerformer orchestra and played them simultaneously. Works great. Not sure it’s really necessary for Arne to include piano VST’s inside NPPE when you can combine other VST’s with it already. Anyone else try this?
Agree. Now that you point it out, my VSL Bechstein plays back beautifully in Dorico without a NPPE template.

It's certainly no problem to add instruments alongside NP/NPPE. I've used NPPE and VEPro at times if I want to use a library that's not supported by NP for example. I think the biggest disadvantage is possibly timing offsets which are all handled by NPPE for those libraries under NPPE control, but I doubt it's an issue with pianos.

I haven’t noticed any timing issues between a piano VST alongside the NPPE orchestral instruments so far. It would be interesting to actually combine other orchestral instruments outside of NPPE in Dorico for instances where you want greater control over playback. I might try Synth V vocalists with Spitfire NPPE, some special orchestral effects, and Synchron piano and see if chaos results. I think it may actually play seamlessly, which would be pretty amazing.

Certainly and I wouldn't expect timing issues with a piano. But if it came to a library with big delays (like CSS legato for example) you might. Of course you can set those delays per articulation which is great.

Hey Maximvs, this is the info on SSD memory swap from the NPPE support page:

Thanks so much!

Take care,

Now this probably isn't necessary on the faster M1/M2 machines is it? For example I'm using a 64GB M2 Max Studio and my main NPPE template exceeds the actual memory footprint quite a bit but it all runs just fine. I can see it's using swap space but doesn't seem to affect performance adversely.

I am not a Mac user, I have a PC with i9 processor and 64GB RAM... Thanks anyway for your feedback.

As it says synchron main, I'd assume VSL Synchron Strings Pro, Synchron WW/Brass//Percussion.
Also I think the video is older than duality strings, and I am pretty shure it is not elite
The demo uses Synchron Strings Professional. I'm attaching the exact .np_template file.

Thanks! Are there any demos of (or does anyone in this thread have experience with) Duality Strings via NPPE? Wondering if it has any notable sound differences.

I have problems assigning the Violins 1&2 to the different Channels of my NPPE SSO and HOOpus in Dorico 5 (Windows). The Subject was disscussed in this Thread in the Posts #2054-#2062 (impressive Numbers of Posts for impressive Software in this Thread!) But I could not solve the Problem. Where do I assign the Sounds? Made some Screenshots of my Setup. Strangely the first Violin has only one Stuff assigned in NPPE. In the Endpoint Configuration it seems to assign 2 Staves. I dont find the Place to change this. When i start a Score from Scratch, with two Ensemble Players in the Violins everything is working great.

You can assign those staves in the Play tab to channels 12 and 13 of whichever Noteperformer instance that is? You can also delete the channels you don't need in the Noteperformer mixer.
It may also work if you just reapply the NotePerformer playback template to that project.

In your second screenshot, you may want to also try clicking on the "one staff" and "two staves" to change how many staves that instrument is assigned to cover.

Thanks! The reapplying of the Noteperformer Template made the trick. Assigning "one staff" and "two staves" is working great. Strangely the first Violin needs only "one staff"selected. Violins II "two staves". I dont quite understand this. Violin II has only one system in the score. But it works! :)
