Ryan Leach January 2024 Composing Competition

As mentioned in my earlier post I'm a rank amateur, but this competition was FANTASTIC. I actually learnt a lot about constructing hybrid tracks and even the difficulty of finding a balance between an traditional instruments and synths. It's not as great as you guys' amazing submissions, but I actually am happy with this as it's a sign of my progress as a composer from when I started last summer. I am so grateful to people who host these contests as for someone like me this is a great way of gaining experience of different styles of composing! And to everyone who has been encouraging and even Ryan himself if he ever sees this, thank you!

So everyone's uploading their entries to youtube but it's not in the rules, right?
The real submissions are as mp3 via the dedicated competition form. What happens here in this forum is an extra. Indeed most posts here are with links to YT but (as I do) Soundcloud can be used too. And perhaps even other platforms.

Don't be too modest, the electronic section in the middle sounds very well produced to me :)
Then I guess I have A LOT (about 32) of YouTube Tutorials on working in Serum and synth vst's to thank! 😂

Like I genuinely (personally) didn't think it holds up. But I might just be too persemistic. But thank you for the encouragement.

Once again, submitted at 11:59 PM.... one of these days I'lll get a handle on "finishing before the absolute deadline."

Will go through all the posts here when I have a minute, as is tradition.

My entry is on my SoundCloud page, I hope you'll have a listen.

PLEASE LISTEN HERE

The aim is to create music to compliment the artwork, which has a Cyberpunk style. I've tried to include electronic and romantic elements (with a vocalized duet), and even a motorcycle in the music.

Congratulations, @Ferenc Bátri and @DavidW on getting to the finals - AGAIN! :dancedance: How many times you both managed to get to the contests' finals?! Seems a lot! :2thumbs:
Good luck to you both in the finals!

Absolutely agree! Congrats all finalists and good luck! Fantastic pieces all round and also to all honorable mentions and other participants congrats. It's been a fantastic time listening to all the different visions and sounds created!

Thank you! 2nd time for me now. Other times were honorable mentions. I didn't see one from you again this time. Does it mean you're busy doing more important projects?

@Kerryman, great job! I hope you'll continue to participate in the next contests!
As I know, Ryan has a team of other musicians, who help him to choose the entries for this contest. That's how he managed to submit his own entry under a fake name and failed to get to the finals, as it was shared in the video above. :)

@DavidW, yeah, I skipped this one, as I was very busy with other projects and honestly, I didn't think I would come up with a good idea for this one. :)
But luckily I succeeded in the recent Musio contest.

Oh I didn't see that one. I love your entry. Right up my street. Congrats. Aside from all the competitions, I'm working on a symphonic metal project that I can hopefully release to the world one day. I'll be sure to share it with you.

@blender505 Congrats to you too. It's especially impressive that you submitted so early!
