Ryan Leach January 2024 Composing Competition

Here's mine.

Some context:

[SCENE]
The ending to a summer tent-pole/sci-fi/dystopian action movie.

The hero crosses paths with the woman
he saved one last time.

[MUSIC]
A reprisal of the film's main love theme begins.
It hits hard - the grand denouement to this epic love journey before tapering into emotional closure. Fade to black.

[MUSICAL CONTEXT]
The title, "Our Kansas," is a reference to an important dialogue between the characters where they affectionately recognize their love as tantamount to the charm of a rural, small-town love in a far-away land. They lovingly call this safe-space amidst the storm of the action/thriller/dystopian storyline... "Our Kansas."

As mentioned in my earlier post I'm a rank amateur, but this competition was FANTASTIC. I actually learnt a lot about constructing hybrid tracks and even the difficulty of finding a balance between an traditional instruments and synths. It's not as great as you guys' amazing submissions, but I actually am happy with this as it's a sign of my progress as a composer from when I started last summer. I am so grateful to people who host these contests as for someone like me this is a great way of gaining experience of different styles of composing! And to everyone who has been encouraging and even Ryan himself if he ever sees this, thank you!

On the edge of the deadline, my entry for the January 2024 Ryan Leach competition.
In the music I tried to visualize the urban character of a world city conglomerate, the two persons in the center have some kind of intimate conversation, or is it a business conversation? The eastern elements are inspired by the chinese or japanese looking woman.
In the music orchestral settings are combined with eastern instruments, and also with a trance like middle part in which synth sounds play an important role.

Thanks for the nice reactions! And congratulations on the great entries everyone. I've heard excellent entries in a lot of different styles now. Will be interesting to see if the finalists have as much variety as the entries, or if they prefer some specific style.

So everyone's uploading their entries to youtube but it's not in the rules, right?
Correct, to enter the competition you only need to upload the mp3 in their submission form. But many people want to share their entries with others and since the competition is hosted on Youtube, that seems to be the platform of choice for most. I think the organizers usually create a Youtube playlist of the finalists that they can find on Youtube, and I've already seen an unofficial playlist that tries to collect entries uploaded on Youtube.
But yeah, it's not part of the official competition - my Youtube upload is actually about 1 second too long because I was too lazy to figure out how to solve this with OpenShot, but the mp3 is exactly 90 seconds.

Don't be too modest, the electronic section in the middle sounds very well produced to me :)
Hey all! Here is an entry of mine. Good luck everyone!

...and another user of Cinematic Studio Strings :) Sounds very nice!
