Just posted mine yesterday!

You can find the music only version in my thread! :)

Throwing my entry into the mix here. I wasn't aware of the extra percussion instruments you could add so I stuck to the strings, brass and winds restrictions. I've never done an animation like this before and to be honest I didn't think I had it in me, so I'm glad I went for it.

Good luck to everyone else! I've really enjoyed seeing how others have approached this film.

I'm gutted that me and my partner couldn't find the time to do everything we wanted to do on this. We learned about the contest last week and our free time was unfortunately too scarce. But anyway, we thought we might participate nonetheless, here's our entry :

Some bits are unfinished and need some heavy polishing, and the ending and credits were simply not done lmao, so I threw some random MIDI in the last 10 minutes before the deadline. Anyway, it was a nice experience to score this fantastic animation.

Good luck everyone :O

Well what you have done is beautiful nonetheless. Very lyrical, especially that first motif!! Plus there are some very catchy musical moments throughout.

Yeah great job.

My entry. I also didn't use any percussion, which was a nice challenge! Good luck to everyone!!

Fantastic job. I appreciate that you did this in Dorico. I used Dorico as well exclusively (NPPE, etc) and found it very easy to work with with video.

It did seem like the level of the music could be a little louder/fuller. That's my only feedback and of course is opinion, not fact.

Oh, I knew I had to watch it. They could have stated it more clearly.
Anyway, that limitation was actually more fun than challenging.

Great entry, by the way ! You nailed that cartoon vibe in so many places.
I too wish it had been in the pdf package! But like you said, it was a fun challenge not using percussion. Had to get creative with some bartok hits and stabs

Here's my entry! Had a lot of fun even though I found out last minute about this competition so I had to move quite fast haha, but still a fun challenge!

this is so good! I love how you took an 8-note theme and developed it throughout the score, giving it different color and feeling. And did you use banjo, or is that a string doing pizz or something?

Thank you Frank! I really appreciate it. I wanted to focus on one simple main theme and let the rest be in a cartoon style! Correct I used a banjo in this one for comedic purposes haha. I really like what you did as well, and that you also only used the 30-piece orchestra minus the percussion. It was definitely challenging, but it brought out new ways of being creative!

Just a reminder of a few things...some people are missing...

1. The correct hashtag is #scorerelief2024 and not #cuetubescorerelief2024
2. Don't forget to put some text at the start of your video saying that it's a 'rescore by...', as this is part of the requirement/license from Blender for using their animation!
3. Of course your entry needs to be public and also submitted via our webform as per the instructions in your entry pack
4. I'd be mega grateful if you can shine a light on our fundraiser in the description text of your video! Of course that's not a pre-requisite, but that's really what Score Relief and the idea of 'film scoring contest with a heart' is all about :)

Thanks again and good luck!

Bryan
Hi Bryan,

Just saw this now and submitted yesterday but did not see that about stating the 'rescore by..' at the start. Is it still possible to add this to description on the YouTube video or to just add a clip at the start with this? I'm not sure would it change the Youtube URL I've sent in if so?

Hi guys,

I've added mine below! Wish I had more time to mix it properly but was under pressure time-wise! Hope you like it and all the best to everyone with their entry! :)

Here is my entry in the contest. The most challenging part (for me) was only using the 30-piece orchestra. Turns out writing without percussion can be fun!

I enjoyed this score - I found it extremely well-paced for the visuals, enjoyed the smooth changes from scene to scene, and found the swingtime sounds in the intro and ending highly satisfying. Thanks for posting it here and good luck with the competition!

Hi all!
I am new here:)
I also decided to take part in a competition with a dog and a cat. I will be glad to receive any comments.

Thank you!

Hi - a word of welcome and thanks very much for sharing here. You've got a great sound, and this score is right on point with the brief. Very best of luck to you!
