But we’re not talking about re-recording with orchestras - I just mentioned that as it’s a big topic on all of the other forums in here…… in this forum we’re talking about the vocals only, and like I said you can get a vocalist on Fiverr for well under 50 quid - I did it myself in Oct 2022 - before I knew about Synth V.
Again, complicating life. I can just deal with Synth-V. I used to work with real singers before I started using Synth-V, and it was never as straight forward as it should be. That might be on my inability to accurately articulate changes that I want, but regardless, Synth-V is easier to work with, so if the results are good enough, why complicate your life?
Look, I don't really have a horse in this race... I'm not interested in releasing things "commercially" any more. But if I was, it would be a real consideration for me. I hate having to keep track of unique situations that require my attention or I might face legal action. If the whole industry was like it, we'd have to deal with it and I'm sure there would be plenty of tools out there to help us do so, but its not, so we don't. This one is an outlier, so the easiest way of not dealing with it, is just to not support its existence. I know that I have been in the situation more than once, where someone has asked to buy or license a track of mine that I'd originally written for my own personal enjoyment (in other words, it wasn't up for sale). When you have to keep track of unique and restrictive terms of use, it really sucks the joy out of having sold something. Also, supporting something like this sends a message to all developers that its okay to treat customers like dirt.
It's kind of the same with XLN's Life plugin. Different situation, but uniquely written EULA that complicates life to the point of it really not being worth it. I'll use something else, even if that something else is not actually a plugin, but a technique to achieve something similar.
