Saros - new voice from eclipsed sounds

I'm fine with that as long as they don't use it as a crutch to hide things it can't do. In fact, I think its a good idea to get more demos out in more genres and using more vocal modes. I'd even love to hear more "demonstrations" of the voice itself - no accompaniment, no production - just the raw voice. I'm guessing that wouldn't appeal to the "other half" of the buyers out there though.
ES has put up raw vocal versions of SAROS's demos here, explaining why so in this tweet. Thanks for your interest in our newest vocal. -ES outreach lead

Yeah, that's the way to go. Actually sounds a lot better to me in these raw demos. The s'es are still problematic but much less so. The R's are a little bit problematic, but kind of typical of many singers, so doesn't bother me so much. More on the fence now. :2thumbs:

-----edit-----
I retract my initial post, after rechecking and relistening a few times to both this, and the new Dreamtonic voices. Its indeed the unprocessed super dry sound that made things sound different. Now I agree it does seems to faithfully represent the voice type, and works as intended. I just wish the voice was more grounded, had less nasal sounds, and more pleasing quality to it overall - but the musicality is there, might come very useful in group singing and choir sweetening.

New demo up...

Can't say I'm impressed. I'm hoping its just bad mixing skills. Hoping they put up some others that are better.

Pre-orders are open too. https://www.eclipsedsounds.com/saros.

Release expected mid - late November.

I dislike this too. But even José Cura would sound horrible on this track and be unable to salvage it. I preordered and have no regrets about doing so based on every demo I've heard.

I'm not a fan of the new demo either, but meh, it happens... I enjoyed the other demoes. I think some (most) of Asterian's were pretty bad too, but I like Asterian. I chalked it up to most synth voice producers not knowing how to write music for a bass, since there's really only one other synth voice that I know of that's a bass (Vocaloid Big Al), and he was always kind of niche (and also never really written for properly, in my opinion).

Listening to the raw samples, did they use the automatic tuning function? If so, their default vibrato is fast and shallow kind of like Natalie's. Sort of reminds me of Michael Jackson a little bit or maybe Lionel Richie, interesting.

The last demo was - for me - entirely unimpressive.

But Eclipsed Sounds knows their target audience, and I hope it achieves the goal of widening the market of people interested in Saros.

I've pre-paid, and am looking forward to seeing where having a different voice available leads my lyric writing.

So, you've done the pre-order? I am a bit hesitate tho .. I am thinking SAROS or ANRI ARCANE for my collection

Yes, I've pre-order. I liked what I heard from the earlier demos, and have the money on hand. There really isn't much of a cost savings, so waiting for the release is probably the smarter thing to do.

I haven't followed the second version of Anri, but I just had a listen to the demos. The voice isn't appealing to me - nasal and unnatural in a nails-on-a-chalkboard sort of way. But that's purely my personal feeling. If you like that sound, more power to you! There's room for lots of different musical tastes in this world.

Well, I've been waiting for this moment for all my life, Hold on, Hold on...

Well, that's an interesting version of the lyric.

At least the lyrics on "Stayin' Alive" are more understandable in the naked version.

Stayin' alive, on you walk

The actual lyric is "Oh, when you walk", but whatever. :roflmao:

Anyway, I'm looking forward to Saros - this sounds great.

As shown in this new SAROS Demo, Spanish is coming as a new language to Synthesizer V!

https://www.eclipsedsounds.com/post/spanish-is-coming-synth-v

Fantastic news!

However, in the demo he sings so fast that it is difficult for me (a native of Spain) to understand what he says, so it is not the ideal demo TBH.

The phonemes for Spanish are correct, but there are too many errors in the flow of phoneme duration due to the speed of the syllables. This happens with all voice banks in any language when singing fast, and (until new AI magic tricks) can only be corrected by editing the duration of the phonemes. It's not something to worry about but I still hope they show a quiet demo soon to properly evaluate the Spanish.

Congratulations to both developers!

Khanadee, one of Eclipsed Sounds' members, said on the Vocaverse Network forum that, while Spanish will eventually be available for everyone as a cross language synthesis option, only SAROS will have the option at launch. SAROS also has Spanish data in their recordings.
After SAROS, SOLARIA and ASTERIAN will be updated to support Spanish, albeit with no Spanish data recorded (so they will probably sound more accented), and after them every voice will eventually support Spanish.

They suggest to directly contact them via their support page (over here) for any feedback, since feedback only shared on forums/social media can get easily lost.
Since core features being added by a 3rd party is something new, they expect the tiered release + user feedback will help achieve a better finished product :)
