What's new

Arturia V Collection X released

My price is $149 and I’m hesitating.

If it were $99 I would not be.
Same here. I have V9 and bought Augmented Brass and Acid V separately. I'll wait or pass altogether. Have plenty of other synths and Kontakt instruments and not worried about another V collection completion. And separately they have individual upgrades for reworked Wurli V and Mini 4 at 49Euros each, ABSOLUTELY NOT!! 🤦‍♂️

Crossgrade from V Collection 5 is $399 for me, but Arturia V Collection 9 would have been $99. Next year maybe.

I’m being offered the upgrade for $149,I will do my usual miserly waffling and wait for the inevitable $99 sale down the road……………..
Yes I will say something that‘s beyond offensive, probably unimaginable to many people here in the world we know as VI-C.
I already have too many synths!
Poppycock, balderdash, bunk, hogwash, rubbish, nonsense! Know what I mean, know what I mean? Nudge nudge. Say no more.

I bought Acid V and Aug Brass separately as well and have V8. I refuse to upgrade for $299. It's really bad pricing. They have amazing coders, but can't prorate the upgrades? Sleazy timing for those who just bought V9 during the sale. No Arturia, just no.

I had purchased Collection 9 on December 1st (12 days ago), and my upgrade price under my account to Collection X is $199? WTF. I'll use version 9 since it's a good product, but I don't think I'll be doing any more business with the company.

Within that timescale, I'd be contacting support to see if there's a grace period. I can't speak for them, but my one encounter with them was positive.

As noted before blowing your top contact the company. I've never had anything but positive experiences with them. Maybe they'll surprise you.

Regarding the various upgrade prices, I saw this chart over on KVR, and if all somebody owns is V9 with nothing additional, then $199 to upgrade sounds correct.

V Collection 9 or Sound Explorer Collection 2 + 3 or 4 products of VCX = 99€
VC 9 (or SEC 2) + 1 or 2 products of VCX = 149€
Upgrade from VC 9 or SEC2 = 199€
Upgrade from VC 6, 7, 8 or SEC1 = 299€
Crossgrade from Pigments, or FX Collection, or 3+ software = 399€

And frankly its fair. If you didn't buy any of the stuff released after 9 you're getting quite a bit of new stuff. Whether someone wants any of it or not is a different story.

Close to doing same ... week or so ago. $149. + $199. = $348.
Did not grab 9 @ $149. _ so 10 is $399. hari-kari for $51. ?
🪵 have been pleased with $299. but ....🤷🏻‍♂️

Sad ... first time I won't be upgrading. 199 just too steep for me this year. Guess I will look and hope for this 99 deal later that many reference.

I hope they help you out, but this is such a weirdly over the top response. Was it written anywhere that upgrades are scaled based on the time from the previous version's purchase?

No one likes buying and then seeing a new product released shortly after, but you exchanged money for a product. I would assume it was worth it for you at that time. If it wasn't, why did you buy it? The company owes you nothing.

Need some advice...

As I bought a lot of single-licences from arturia over the years - is there a chance to see which products in my account are currently sellable or do I have to ask Arturia in each case manually?

Some weeks back I saw that one product shows a mark like "not transferable" (based on an upgrade or hardware I own) - that mark is now gone. Maybe I need do deactivate a produkt to see if the licence is transferable? My FX Collection 3 still shows an upgrade offer as I already own FX Collection 4 - also weird. Does it mean I can sell the FX Collection 3 without loosing 4?
I somehow ended up with two V Collection licenses in my account. To be sure I didn’t hobble my upgrade, I created a new Arturia account and transferred the extra (older) license there. After a few weeks everything was fine, so I transferred the extra license to a friend.

It is generally free to transfer Arturia licenses. Note that some transfers require a support ticket. Moving it first to an account fully within your control allows you to move it back if there is some dependency or unintended consequence of the transfer.

It's pretty much the same kind of discussion after each new version. It's always around the same upgrade price at intro, knowing that there will be better sales later.

The difference this time is it's coming after disappointing FX4 upgrade pricing. My upgrade price from FX2 to FX3 was €29 (I had bought most of the fx they'd released between 2 and 3 for €29 a pop though) but then my upgrade to FX 4 was €129 and I had everything in 3 except for the rotary speaker. FX motions was €49 where every other recent fx plugin was €29 intro offer.

Those are pretty big jumps in prices. €29 was impulse buy territory. €49, for me at least, isn't impulse buy territory and €129 for the full collection is €100 more than before for me.

Add to that the very subjective part, which is that there's nothing in X I'm remotely interested in (other than the Moog reworking, but I have that covered elsewhere) and it is just a disappointing upgrade. No worries, it's a good thing really as I don't need any more synths anyway and it's better for me to save my money for stuff I'd actually use...

It also encouraged me to check what I already have installed, so I managed to clear GB worth of stuff I've never used and never will from my laptop, which is a bounus...
