Synths That Get No Love.

Speaking of forgotten synths that get no love, here's an obscure one!

JP6K by Adam Szabo:

Just... Hear that juicy goodness! Especially that last patch in that video it's just... Indescribably huge!
It's a very simple, supersaw based synth but holy moly does that thing do it well! I love synths like that, no-nonsense, specialized do one thing really really well type of synths.

Don't listen to me, listen to those glorious patches instead!

It's also just $25!

His Viper synth is also fantastic, much better known than this one.

Also, grab his this year's KVR-Contest winning shimmer reverb Solaris while your at it for free, one of the best sounding shimmer verbs I have ever heard:

Huh, well here's one that gets so little love (from me at least) that I forgot that I owned it.

Back in March, I upgraded from an old 2012 iMac to a new Mac Studio. I was just doing a check to see if there was anything left that I hadn't installed, and I found (on the old machine) that I had fxpansion's Strobe 2 installed. I don't remember using it all that much, but now that I found it, I was curious if it was still around.

Apparently Roli has taken over fxpansion's product line? I'm still able to log in to my old fxpansion account and I do see it as an available download, with a latest version of 2017. On Roli's site, it's not listed as part of my account, but it appears to be available. And it's M1 compatible which suggests that it has been updated since being taken over by Roli.

I don't think I'm interested in buying it again, but maybe Roli's support team could help.

Anyway, anyone a Strobe2 user?

Apparently it is now bundled with the Seaboard. Its basic sound is pretty nice, so once you add in the Seaboard's expressive abilities, I imagine that it is almost not quite half bad.

If they don't adopt an entirely non ambiguous statement of praise such as this as the heart of their promotional material, coupled with a central business mission statement of "Beyond mediocrity every time!", then they are missing out on copywrite gold.

Image-Line Drumaxx. I don't read much about it these days, it's a PM drum synth and quite awesome.

It was also incredibly cheap on release, otherwise I wouldn't have it

This probably seems like an odd choice but for me a synth that doesn’t get enough love is Bazille: although this isn’t really an unpopular synth, it doesn’t really get the love I think it deserves and imo Bazille might be the most interesting synth from U-he besides Zebra.

Wow. Love this! Thanks for sharing! Their soundset has been incorporated into the factory bank.

I've just got home from Synthfest, a synth exhibition organised by SoundonSound exhibition.

There was just so much niche stuff there. I wasn't quite sure what a lot of it did exactly, but it was fun to see. Modular synthesis, which I always considered to be a bit of a rabbit hole in itself, seemed pretty mainstream.

All I know is that about 80% of the stuff there wouldn't be let past the front door by beloved wife.
