Softube : Model 82 Sequencing Mono Synth

~ 63. usd for GeForce SEM. My seasoned ears say # Model 82 @ $19. šŸŽ§
Geforce SEM is a better synth to me. But I'm partial to the SEM sound, as well. But, even excluding that aspect, it's just a more usable synth/tool overall. The SEM gets down to $35 or so on sale I thought but maybe that's a different one I'm thinking of.

That said, 82 for $19 is quite nice (except like on the others, the noise feature is bad). The one to compare to is the TAL synth. To me, the 82 sounds better and more "analog" but the TAL has some really nice features that the Softube lacks. Because Softube, as we know, doesn't believe in features! Ha.

Am I pretty much covered for mono synths with bx_oberhausen, or do I need this as well?
If you never use a mono synth, then you're covered.

My favorite mono synths in regular use include

* My SE-02 (hardware)
* Repro 1
* SEM
* Phoscyon 2

I have Model 82 but rarely use it as it has a more particular sound to my ears - so does Phoscyon 2, but I prefer it. I deleted Oberhausen as soon as I heard the SEM as it's far more authentic (Oberhausen has more features, like the TAL one does vs. Model 82).

I think you'll be better off with hardware. Buy a nice fuzz pedal, go on, go on!

I don't like the Geforce SEM sound myself; though perhaps I will at some point. Mainly, I suspect that I may just not like the onboard reverb - which many love. I do like the bx_Oberhausen very much, though. Others do say that it is a less accurate emulation, which may matter for some purposes - especially if you've always loved the SEM sound and want that in particular.

From what I can tell, the Model 82 is probably much better for aggressive sounds. And if that is what you are after then, may I ask, are you feeling quite yourself?

Ha ! bx_Oberhausen for long time, must revist and recalibrate my current values.
Nice sets of hardware pedals on both Prophet 5, and Trigon 6, yet 'limited' overdrive, distortion, fuzz, so far. You relate to those better, as guitarist ...... waaay on upper right is Mojomojo Overdrive -Paul Gilbert Edition ..... can get tiny bit 'aggressive' šŸ˜œ

That looks amazing. I sort of want that Lilian pedal just for the picture on it...

Yes, overdrive can be a tricky thing on a synth. But a tube preamp might be better for adding just a bit of saturation. However, that will cost a lot more than the SEM!

THX for wake-up call !!! Have UAFX - MAX pedal over on Trigon 6 setup. Got it for Comp tones, yet has 'Legendary UA 610 Tube Preamp' mentioned at end of Site Mktg info. Super cool comment to make me check, and learn ! ā£ļø
