I made the huge mistake of buying the Dark Era library from Best Service. I have seen horrible GUIs in my lifetime, but none came remotely close to the Best Service "Engine". It's an attack on good taste. A full on attack with Apache helicopters launching nuclear missiles, the giant robots from Pacific Rim punching good taste to a pulp.
Not only the font is hideous (it's like they grabbed the Cubase GUI font and beat the living hell out of it), but the GUI is not scalable, so you can't see anything!
And those colors in the keyboard? Useless, because they don't match anything in the instrument. Logically you would think that the only keys that are active are the ones in color, not the white ones. That's universal across all virtual instruments. Here, it doesn't matter, it's just for show.
And to top it all, it doesn't have a VST 3 plugin, or any plugin that works with Apple Silicon. I can only see their "Engine" (a stupid name if there's one) if I launch Cubase in Rosetta 2 mode.
Who are these people? Do they go back in time to 1989 to build the GUI in a Commodore 128 and then bring it back and do the rest of the programming in the present? Because I know there are different GUIs in VSTi engines and some are better than others, but even the worst parts of Kontakt are not as bad as this. This is a train wreck. I see design flaws in GUIs all the time, even on software by huge corporations. But I have never seen something so lazy and useless as this.
I deleted everything this monstrosity installed and told them I want a refund. If they don't give it to me, I'm going to file a claim with my credit card. I won't pay for something I can't even use because they are so lazy they can't even write the code for a VST3 plugin that works with Apple Silicon.
