Kontakt Updates (current version: 7.8.0)

  • ADDED Option for double click Preset loading behavior ("Loading → Files, Libraries, Quick-Load: Double-clicking a file replaces currently selected instrument slot")
Hello,

Currently, on my version of Kontakt (7.7.2), if a virtual instrument A is loaded in Kontakt and I want to load a virtual instrument B, the instrument B replaces the instrument A, unless I decide to deselect the instrument A. Which is very annoying because it was not the case before: each time I was loading an other instrument, it was loaded alongside the others.

Does this option change this behavior?

Prezactly!

Yeah, what's up with that? Suddenly it's moving at breakneck speeds. Did they finally hire you? :roflmao:

I've been working with NI on freelance basis for the past 4 years, past 2.5 years also working on Kontakt innards too... :)

installed latest update .... command A and command C still do not work on the instrument name field in Logic. Can this be addressed please? I submitted a bug last year with NI. It works fine with Kontakt 6 so I don't see how this is an Apple issue. What's the latest on this? Thank you-

Coming from K5 and then K6, I like the K7 feel. Yes it could be (much) better, but’s it feels ok. IMHO.
But I’d like (still) basic features that would make my life easier. For exemple sticking with Kontakt plugin ID so when K8 will be released we will not need to keep K7 installed in order to load old sessions (along with K5, K6 and so on). Or better UI (with HD visuals and texts). Etc etc
But so far I like K7 and There’s not plenty of bugs so it’s ok.
Native access is another story but it seems better with time…
Crossing fingers…

this pointless, useless browser that seems to slow first-loading on some blazing fast rigs to about 7 hours.
Wow! I think that might have happend to me last month when I installed K7. I actually thought the new browser would be nice since it sort of takes your 3rd-party orphan libraries and put them next to whoever pays to be in the Kontakt browser. Anyway, I thought those would show up in the same browser on the left side...not another new window.

Anyway, I had nothing but trouble loading my 3rd-party sample libraries. I went to the forum, and searched, but I could find nothing about my experience so I thought I was doing something wrong...no matter what I tried. Finally, I made this thread, where this poor guy wanted to help, but seemed clueless.

A couple days later, I came back and was able to actually import those 3rd party libraries. So yes, no one told me it would take hours before I'm able to achieve such a simple task.:emoji_unamused:

Many users don't share this sentiment. But I guess they are not on this forum. :)
Whats wrong with putting them all in the same place? The left side of the browser where NI factory libraries have existed since Kontakts beginning, plus those developers who decided to shell out big bucks to also reside there. Oh wait...yeah...the money... Money trumps a good user experience.

That's great! Your selfless contributions on the forums over the past decade+ have shaped the VI industry and as such, the face of music. Can't think of a better person to have their fingers in there. 🍻
Yes, let´s all take a moment to thank Mario for his generous support here, and for his help moving forward some of the tech that puts food on our tables!

We always give him a hard time because he is brave enough to be NI´s unnoficial face around here, but he surely deserve our praise!

If I would have been in his shoes (I don't know if they would fit) I would have already flipped all of you the finger and left this place. ;)

So, what did you do the second time that gave you success?
I added the libraries.

Of course they show up as a basic folder icon among all the Kontact factory libraries that I wish could be deleted there. If there is a way to show only the folders I manually added, I have not figured it out yet.

You can use Quick Load, but considering the current state of K7, I have not set that up yet.

If I could delete Kontact Libraries in the Control Browser, then the advantage is going to the NI Control browser, and having all your 3rd-party libraries show up in one place instead of going to the NI left pane file tab and searching.

Yes. I don't know anyone else who is publicly representing NI these days. I think Mario might have missed the 1st NI generation where many lost interest after the dumping of Kore, and the temporary stagnation of Reaktor, but he has taken a lot of hits since that time...and somehow keeps on ticking....

I've been with NI since 2005, I've learned synthesis in Generator (you could say that was my first proper synth!) I do remember the Kore days even if I wasn't owner back then (I am now, though - thanks to Windows being awesome and still running Kore 2 like a champ!). I'm on NI forums since 2007.

I would also like to say that some of my colleagues have indeed been rather active on NI forums, for example Matt Hines, PO of S-series mk3 hardware, has been incredibly responsive to the barrage of questions over there, and Hayo Friese, PO of Native Access has periodic dev talks too. It's better than I ever remember it to be as far as outreach to userbase is concerned.

I had hoped Kontakt 7 would finally have enabled us to *easily* unify and access all our libraries in *one* place rather than be forced to laboriously search through those that are segregated because the companies that created them didn't pay to have them listed in the Rack Side Pane. It seems like a silly form of punishment.

Is anyone else on Kontakt 7.8 noticing sluggish and long loading times when using the plugin in Logic Pro 10.8.1?

I was saving a patch with 10 tracks, with 10 Kontakt instances and the patch took over 1min to save
I am noticing beach balling and other issues on my 2018 Mac mini i7 6-Core...

Seems Intel machines have been rendered worthless now or something

Thank you!
Looking back two years, if you weren't so active on the forum and relentlessly answering all these questions, learning KSP would've been much, much more difficult.

As far as I'm concerned, the two main resources that I know of for KSP are the KSP reference manual and Evil Dragon posts :emoji_sweat_smile:

I'm seeing that in Kontakt 7.8 large native NI libraries like Fables and Arkhis now take a few seconds to load - around 10, I think, on MacBook Pro 2020 . Previously it was almost instant, otherwise I wouldn't have noticed. No big deal, just sharing my experience.
