I have a legit MEGA BASS Waterphone as designed & built by the inventor Richard Waters (RIP) so that doesn't have much appeal. Why on earth have they put it inside a box? They radiate sound in all directions and eg playing the base/bottom of it with a friction mallet is a fantastic sound.
It also pays to check what 'electric pickups' they are actually using, as sometimes it is a $3 DIY peizo without impedance matching preamp, so you lose everything below 200Hz... More on this issue here

I really would not want to 'retool' my giant waterphone as it is outside and waterproofing dedicated electronics & power supply is a waste of time as I get much higher quality results from capturing it properly ie multichannel 32/192k... I use Sennheiser MKH8020 x2 clamped inside the tank (10Hz-50kHz) along with a Pair of Trance Audio Contact Mics with matched preamp & balanced outputs, and an EXT Sennheiser MKH8040 pair ORTF.... I'm recording this on the next windless quiet evening, so will share some examples next week...

The Apprehension thing is interesting but its all very well-known techniques... (I know its just marketing but it seems odd to call a musical instrument/sound FX device capable of a world of sounds a Horror Music device. It feels simplistic, reductive and generic.... A violin could also be a 'Horror Music machine', but like all instruments can evoke the entire gamut of feels.
