Not on Mac as far as I know. And from my knowledge so far, it doesn't work at all.USB supports Trim ...
But maybe I can learn something new ... can you tell me a combo that definitely supports Trim over USB?

Samsung T5 and presumably later models but you need to format using NTFS.Not on Mac as far as I know. And from my knowledge so far, it doesn't work at all.

You and me both. Seagate is the only verboten brand in my studio after flagship drives from two different generations both died horrible, horrible deaths. The second one resulted in my only major data loss since the 90s (my backup automation had also failed). The rep was so bad, in fact, that when I called a drive recovery company in California and gave them the model number, their response was, "ugh.... yeah. Well, we can give it a try, but don't get your hopes up."The only one to avoid is Seagate, because the company made me mad years ago.
I'd forgive them for having bad manufacturing runs, but they were aggressively nasty to me when I had four failures - two of them immediately after the warranty expired - within a month. This was more than one customer service person. You and me both. My studio is primarily Samsung, but I'm currently using two WD nvmes as my primary sample drives.
Good lord, I can’t believe it’d cost that much. What are you putting together? Will surely be in $6k - $9k range.
@Nick Batzdorf - what speeds are you getting with the Acasis TB405 and the Crucial P3+?The main thing seems to be the enclosure, although there have been reports of issues with Apple Silicon and some models of SSDs.
Also, my issues with some USB devices (M1 Mac Studio Max) not mounting when I'd wake or restart the computer went away a couple of macOS Ventura updates ago.
But that hasn't ever happened with my Acasis TB405 enclosure with a 4TB Crucial P3+.
I second the vote for every other brand as well, never having felt the need to pay a premium for Samsung.
Crucial, Western Digital, SanDisk, Kingston, Corsair, PNY.. I'm probably forgetting others I've had that have never failed. The only one to avoid is Seagate, because the company made me mad years ago.
You'll likely maintain these speeds on the M2. You don't need nearly those speeds though to stream samples. Those speeds will help primarily in loading projects and transferring large files. If you want to stream large video files at fast frame rates you will also need faster drives.Anyone have thoughts on the best way to maintain their speed and a tidy solution?
I've been getting 2650 write and 2300 read on the 4TB in my old Mac on the crucial.
I also have a WD_BLACK SN850X 2TB that gets 2650 write and 2800 read - but they are pricier and I don't know if it's worth spending the extra money for the faster read times or if it even matters at that point?
About 2500 megs in both directions.@Nick Batzdorf - what speeds are you getting with the Acasis TB405 and the Crucial P3+?
