Oh dear. Same here. I'm not one to rant and rave, or get angry, but VSL has changed al this!!
The move to iLok is probably the worst thing VSL have ever done.
Templates that have been built and tuned over a number of years no longer work!!!
Getting VSL's iLok libraries to work is a nightmare, despite downloading and re-installing many many times, and the move to iLok is expensive, in terms of £cost, and wasted time and effort trying to get them working again. With eLicenser we never experienced any issues and all was right with the world.
I've not had time to really think about next steps, but a couple of other composers here in the studio have now dumped VSL althogether and moved from VEPro7 to an alternative tool called AudioGridder (looks good but I've no experience with it yet). Its ok for them as they don't rely on VSL's amazing orchestral instruments.
As a last ditch attempt to get VSL working again, I downloaded their new freebie instruments, yesterday, which look and sound great on YouTube, but again after uninstalling / re-installing all of the VSL software overnight - the result - they still don't work.
With new client projects about to get started, I've had to make the difficult choice of dumping VSL altogether from my projects (unless we can get them working over the weekend) because their libraries no longer load and we have no working VEPro templates), so have dumped the libraries on to an external archive drive for some other time (if ever). A real shame its come to this because the VSL libraries are amazing, but unfortunately the technology is working against VSL and us.
Right now, I feel like we've been well and truy cheated and led up the garden path to a dead end by VSL. VSL has cost us dearly.
iLok and VSL are the pitts
We're supposed to be writing music for a living, not sorting out stupid problems caused by stupid vendors, where they create problems for no reason!!! Arhhhhhhh!!!
