No midi input in Instrument- BBCSO Spitfire player- Logic

Thanks for posting, I had this issue and couldn't figure out what was happening. It happens sporadically in AR2 as well, I'll reach out to Spitfire to confirm.
Its the first time I experiencing this. I will reach out to Spitfire as well.

I thought that was the bug that Spitfire that Spitfire tried to fix with the replacement files.
This “bug” only happens with the 2 large BBCSO templates, the more simple one does not have this “Bug”. Anyway, I can use the bigger templates just activating the R button on the track :).
Spitfire have only said that "BBC no longer works with the most recent update when using the templates." No other explanation.

I still have the "official" v1.7.0 plugins (i.e. not the ones linked from the forum), but I can't replicate the problem. I even tried all of the original BBCSO Core template files from 2021, but the selected instrument always responds to incoming MIDI, whether or not it's rec-enabled.

It's very strange. Getting SA to fix bugs that do exist is almost impossible, but here they've fixed a bug that (for me) doesn't exist! 😂/😭

Anyway - glad you can work with the R button, at least. Would be good to know what Spitfire Support say...

I contacted Spitfire audio support:
"Can you please upload the project file in question so I can take a look? You're not the first person to report this but I've never been able to replicate it with a fresh download of our template files."

I will return here again, when I know more.

I just had an online session (TeamViewer) with Josh from Spitfire audio. He discovered how to fix it:

  1. Open the "Live Loops Performance" view using the icon at the top of the track headers
  2. Record enable the Live Loops Recording
  3. Disable the Live Loops Recording
Now the BBCSO template works without activating the red "C" :)

Thanks for letting us know! And Josh from Spitfire Audio probably needs some kind of "obscure corner case" medal: that's a tricky one to spot. Record-arming doesn't follow the selected track if something is manually record-armed, but if that something is invisible then the only clue is that the white R isn't going red when you select a track.

The Logic team have clearly thought about this issue since a manually-armed track will be disarmed if you try to hide it. Guess you found another instance they didn't think of!

Oddly, in Logic 10.8.1, I can partly replicate the issue - loop performance record-armed, but hidden, so there's no indication why the selected track isn't record-enabled - but, unlike in your situation, the selected track still receives MIDI and plays audio.
