Arturia Keylab Essential mk3 setup for Reaper 7

I'm really struggling to get my new Arturia Keylab Essential mk3 to connect with the control surface of Reaper 7. I've got as far as adding Mackie Control and then ensuring the KL Essential MIDI IN and MIDI OUT is active. But when I try to select the KL Essential MIDI IN in a project it only offers the KL Essential DINTH and not the KL Essential MIDI IN even though both are shown as active in midi devices. Does anyone have any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? DINTH is used for controlling external hardware. The absence of MIDI IN option means that I'm unable to connect to the control surface. The midi control center is also confusing as JUMP is referred to in set up steps but is absent from the latest center display.

Perhaps I should ditch Reaper 7 and move to Cubase 13 Elements or Cubase 13 Artist. Arturia has written automatic recognition scripts for Cubase and a few other DAWs but not yet for Reaper, a rather strange omission given the size of the userbase it affects. The Arturia website provides out of date information on adjusting the settings of the midi controller application for Reaper. If any VI Control members can tell me what settings they have used to get the KL Essential mk3 working with Reaper 7 I would be most grateful. I have support tickets with Arturia for this and the fact that when I first registered the midi keyboard their website advised me that both the serial number and unlock code for my brand new KL Essntial mk 3 had already been registered.

Update: I found part of the answer thanks to a posting on the Cockos Reaper Forum although the settings were a long way from what I had expected. As a result I can not control instruments but not transport controls although thankfully my trusty Nektar Impact LX25+ resolves that. I would still be interested in the midi device settings that other Reaper users have for the Arturia Keylab Essentials 61 mk3 when using Reaper 7.

Thanks to help from Arturia Support and another member of the Reaper Forum I have been able to solve the earlier problems. Even the mixer reset on reload issue I was having has been resolved thanks to Reaper's snapshot feature. It surprises me that one can watch any number of Reaper videos about saving a project but none mention the use of snapshot to preserve the mixer settings without which they are set to a useless default when a project is reloaded.
