Seeking remote transport control for Pro Tools running on a 2013 Mac Pro

Please advise if this is the wrong forum and I'll move the question to the right one.

Here's the challenge. I ran an 8-input recording session yesterday in my living room. I also performed in the session. In between each take, I would put my instrument down, walk to the studio where I've staged a Soundcraft MTK 22 to pass audio through a USB-A connection to my 2013 Mac Pro, scan for peaks, adjust the gain accordingly, arm the tracks for recording, press record, and walk back to my instrument in the next room and record the next track. It all worked acceptably until on the last tracks I forgot to press record.

I know I can't remotely control the gain levels of the MTK 22 but, once the gain is set, I would like the ability to arm/disarm tracks, delete audio segments, save Pro Tools session data, and of course start and stop recording.

Add in this consideration: my Pro Tools perpetual license expired in 2020 so I'm not current on version. Also the MacPro is running Adobe CS6, and Office 2013, which are perfectly suited to me and I don't want to subscribe to more software.

One simple solution would be to move the sound board and the Mac Pro into the studio room, but it's bulky. Another simple solution would be to find a 50 foot keyboard cable and HDMI cable and only bring the monitor, mouse, and keyboard into the studio.

The solution I explored last night was using Sidecar to show the Mac Pro screen on my iPad. Sidecar isn't supported on my current Mac OS. (Sonoma), so I created a new partition, installed Monterey, installed and configured pro Tools, only to find that Sidecar has been eliminated from the current OS and that the 2013 Mac Pro design isn't supported anyway. Grrr.

Now for my question: are you aware of any remote control function, either on an iPad or dedicated hardware, that would at least allow me to start and stop recording when I'm a room (and about 40 feet) away from the Mac Pro?
