EW installation center was working, but now broken for me

The last time I had to install EW Play software was back in 2014. I've literally just been using that for a decade. I'm switching platform from that old Mac to PC. Everything has been going smoothly with the transition, except for when I got to my EW software.

I logged into my account on soundsonline, downloaded and installed their new "EW installation center," logged into that. I see my Symphonic library listed. All good right? Nope haha.

Well, I screwed up and installed Opus, thinking it was just the new player. Before I went to download the 206GB of samples from the installation center, I went to open the player up in my DAW to make sure it was working/authorizing. It got hung up... so I read a bit into it, and it turns out "Opus is new, you need to pay for upgrades yada" and I missed that I needed to find the "hidden" legacy Play installation that was in the drop down menu. So I uninstalled Opus, installed Play, went to go back into the EW installation center to get my sample libraries, and it won't let me log back in!

So the EW installation center just either hangs up in the "initializing" splash screen, or if I restart my PC it'll let me get to the log in screen, where it just hangs up for an hour (literally I let it do the circle thing for an hour) and then goes all white/unresponsive. I uninstalled everything EW related, then reinstalled EW installation center, same thing, it just won't work. So now I can't even log into it and install Play from there, let alone grab my samples.

So further down the EW installation center software download page, is a download for the legacy Play software. I downloaded that, installed it, and it appears to load fine on my PC with my old iLok connected that has the license on it. It just has zero instruments to load.

I have the entire library I own installed on my Mac still. I have an external hard drive. Can I just grab the entire EW folder and transfer it over to my PC? In other words, can I skip the whole EW installation center shenanigans? Because it's literally broken for me, and if I could get the Play software installed outside of the EW center, I'm more than fine dropping these folders where they need to be and just forgetting EW center even exists lmao.

I sent in a ticket, but hoping I could get it resolved before they even read it. Software that goes as wonky as this EW installation center just did for me this evening leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I mean, I cannot fathom the reason why the installation center would just stop working, even after uninstalling/reinstalling. I mean, I even didn't do anything hahahaha.

Appreciate any help. If I can just transfer the EW folders over that are on my old Mac via an external hard drive, where do I place them on PC etc?

Thanks!

I assume you have all your licenses on Ilok?
It should be enough to download the latest version of Play 6.1.9

Eastwest Support

transfer your banks to your pc
and from eastwest installation center you can install your banks manually by going through the files

Be careful if you have Hollywood orchestra, the versions for Play and Opus are not the same

I just right now got it up and working (zero of this involved EW Installation center btw.) The transfer of the EW Folder from my Mac worked. Once I had that entire folder as it existed on my Mac copied over to the PC, what I had to do was go to the Libraries tab in Play, right click, and select "Add another product Library" and do that one at a time for Strings, Brass, Woodwinds, and Perc directing it to the Library folders I just transferred. Closed and reopened a test session and all instances of Play loaded and recalled their patches fine.

I am assuming I can just uninstall EW installation center off my PC at this point. That was... an irritating several hours of head scratching. Yikes EastWest, lmao. If I didn't have the files already installed on an old Mac I'd be at the mercy of that installation center program not working/going haywire, and how fast soundsonline is at support back and forth. I still have the DVD's somewhere in a box packed away, but my PC doesn't even have an optical drive so moot point haha.

Thanks for the reply, maybe if someone else comes across this problem, hopefully the info in this small thread will possibly help.

Cheers
