Does Hollywood Orchestra not work with Opus?

I recently updated my library and was introduce to Opus which seems like a slick new version of Play. However, while I can get my Stormdrum 3, EWQLSO Plat and Pianos to work with it, Hollywood Orchestra seems to not want to load into it at all. I've tried reinstalling the library (with great patience) and it still refuses to show up in the thing. Is there something I'm missing here?

You have to own Hollywood Orchestra Opus to use the opus engine. This is different to the other East West libraries where you only needed to own one Opus library and they all then worked in it.

Wait... I have to own an Opus VERSION of HWO?

East West support is really good, so check with them just in case things have changed, but that was the case when Opus came out.

Hollywood Orchestra OPUS is an expanded and (at least to some extent) reworked version of the old PLAY version and is indeed a separate purchase, although there's probably an upgrade price for it if you own the old version.

Yeah it's $200 to upgrade. I dunno. Would it be worth the upgrade? Is there any difference? Like, does Opus load articulations faster than Play does?

I've not used it a whole lot but the main thing for me is that Opus has a purge function that's actually useful, so if you're RAM-limited, the upgrade might be worth it just for that.

Also, apparently the woodwinds have less phasing now, and the solo strings (violin and cello) and harp are included, as well as brand new 18 violins and a couple of other smaller additions.

The Orchestrator can be nice for inspiration I guess but I haven't really found a lot of use for it. I think Sonuscore The Orchestra has more interesting and inspiring presets.

If you use HO a lot, I'd say it's worth it, even if "worth it" depends on your financial situation too.

Opus HO is a new reincarnation, with updated patches for the old stuff (Diamond version) entirely new recorded stuff, inclusion of previously standalone Harp, Violin and Cello - and introductuon of the lovely Orchestrator, which is probably the number one underdog of the VI world.

The whole EW situation is borderline ridiculous - first they kinda "lowered expectations" about their sampling ambitions, and focused on mass adoption of their existing catalog via subscription, but then started quietly making remarkable libraries, plus giving HO a great treatment. When you consider the huge undertaking the new Fantasy orchestra has been, the chill with which it was put out and presented - is simply 👌.

Yeah unfortunately I haven't been using it a lot for a while cause of lack of inspiration but was hoping to change that this year. I dunno if I can justify spending for the upgrade right now. I just purchased acoustic paneling for the studio so I might wanna hold of on this until later. Ah well. Thanks for the info everyone! I greatly appreciate it!
