Audiopluginguy has published my review of Spitfire Audio's Abbey Road Orchestra: Violins 1. I hope there is something useful in there for you. Thank you for reading:

Hi, Muk – I had a look at that page, but something seems to be wrong: your text is partially covered by ads. This happened several times.

Hi Vik,

Thank you for your interest in the review. I will forward your problem to the owner of the website. I have never had that problem, but I hope he can solve it.

Thank you for sharing Mum, it was inspiring and some very good tips!
Will you share a composition where you use ARO violins......, it would be great, remembering your lovely romantic music :).

I did shortly experiencing that the text is covered by the ads but expanding/ contracting the web window fixed it. This is on Mac M1- Safari.

Glad you found the review useful @OleJoergensen ! And thank you for your kind words.

Here is a mockup I created when testing ARO Vl 1. All the violins are ARO Vl 1 (each section is divided in two groups, so it's four instances in total). The lower strings are Spitfire Appasionata Strings. The rest of the orchestra is Spitfire BBCSO:

I somehow missed this when it first came out. Nice review and pretty much accords with my own experience with the violins. Did you review the cellos?

Thank you James. I didn't review the celli, no. I don't own them. I gather that you are quite happy with them?

I haven't had a chance to work with the celli much yet. They just came out at a busy time, so I've only done the most cursory playthrough. I've spent a lot of time with the violins, though, and I'm really most impressed by them. They very much suit the sorts of things I want a large symphonic set of strings to do, and I find them very flexible and quite good for general orchestral scoring (as opposed to the specific things one might want for media scoring).

Hi Christian, it's the Pro version. I used the mic mix that I mentioned in the review (close mic 100%, a bit of the leader mic, Outrigger 1 at 45%).
