Behringer Pro-800 review

I don't like the company but I have to admit I like a lot of their hardware synths....except this one. It has a really fizzy nasty sounding high end that almost sounds like digital aliasing.

The low end and middle octaves are stellar sounding as long as the filter is down. It's a mixed bag this one is.

We understand what you are saying, some of the sounds are better sounding in the lower regions, but with some decent programming you can make it good sounding we think.

Did you, by any chance, had time to listen to a couple of our demos? Not sure if we may do this, but here are a couple of sounds of it. First dry then towards the end of each sound some effects are applied:

We think really think that Behringer put the synth out to early. We had to rework our patches loads of times (see review) and we are not the only ones (jexus f.e.). Even customers are like, what the .... - anyway, hopefully they learn from it.

Lastly, which synths do you have from them?

Yes, I listened to the whole demo on the site. It really played to the strengths of the synth which is fine. It has a really great middle and low octave. On the occasions where the filter did open up on the bass I immediately noticed that the quality was vastly reduced. It would be a problem in my music as a like to use some sparkly highs on pads and soft leads.

I did do a comparison by listening to the original Sequenctal 600 and it doesn't suffer from that high end.

Perhaps Behringer cut too many corners or replaced components with cheaper parts but this example below is just nasty ( and not the good kind of naughty nasty just nasty and raspy).

We believe it is - like mentioned in our review - not intended as a 1:1 copy. And indeed, if you want those highs, get a Prophet-600, 5 or even 6. Prices increase tenfold as well then. So comparing apples and oranges to us and both are great for what they are. We would love to have access to these options when we were teenagers!
