My Review on the Atlantis 3 Update

My specifics will only review the new material for 3. Let’s get right into it.

22: Heroic True Legato: Textbook Stefano legato. Great addition….as expected.

23: Fantasy True Legato and 32: Ethnic Color Vocal Phrases: Lara Ausensi is as talented as they come, and Stefano has given her a brilliant fantasy true legato. The Ethnic Colors Vocal Phrases is very good. The phrases do exactly what they are intended to do. The downside here is that with the Fantasy Legato, I was deeply hoping for Fantasy vocal phrases from Lara….and they are not that at all. Lara Ausensi is a very versatile talented voice and she pulled off the Ethnic phrases perfectly, but having a Fantasy legato from her with no fantasy phrases to go with it was upsetting. I hope with everything in me that Stefano will put that into a future update. In fact….Lara Ausensi needs to be on retainer for Stefano.

24: Firenze True Legato: This was my biggest most pleasant surprise of the update. The demos didn’t convince me of Rosaria, but when actually using Rosaria’s Firenze true legato, it became apparent that she is a dream for those who want to write Gothic, Dracula, Castlevania type music. She has a haunting voice that is perfect for that genre. However, her style is so unique that having nothing more than a true legato for her will bring challenges to doing a gothic piece. I did try her with some Bela D stuff and it was very nice. I would ask earnestly that Stefano have her record some Gothic Dracula style phrases for an update.

25: Dark Siren True Legato: Wow, I was not expecting this. Clara has over a dozen true legatos in the Ethera series. They are all exceptional. This one however blew me away. The higher velocity legato transitions are nothing short of brilliant. It spews out inspiration and makes me want to write specifically for this.

26: Roma True Legato: Another textbook Clara true legato from Stefano.

27: Venezia True Legato and 30: Aurora Vocal Phrases: I have to admit, she is not my favorite voice in Atlantis. Maybe she’ll grow on me. This is a strictly preference call, and I am not questioning her talent. It’s her voice. Some of the vocal phrases are very good, but I’ve tried her exposed (both legato and phrases), and unlike the other ladies who I do expose, I am more cautious with her (especially the lower registers) and I would be using more volume with the other instruments. She is advertised as Celtic, but for that genre, I can’t see myself choosing her over Elena Borroni, or Celica Soldream (Era II Vocal Codex).

28: Syllables True Legato: Just when I think Clara has done everything she can possibly do, she does this. Has become one of my favorite Clara true legatos.

29: Valkyrie Vocal Phrases: A very well thought out generous number of Clara phrases that are perfect for the genre.

31: Hybrid Vocals: I would have considered this an update by itself…perhaps added to Elements instead, but no complaints here. The possibilities are endless. When people ask for innovation, Stefano delivers here. With this patch and everything else in Elements……the tools he provides for Hybrid composing are everything one can need. This is an outstanding patch.

33 Syllables Poly: Another wonderful builder patch. Again…..more tools for the box. This isn’t a filler patch. It has substance and will no doubt be utilized.

34-35 Elven Poly Chants: Elena Borroni is my favorite voice out of the 6 ladies in Atlantis. The Elven Poly Chants are exactly what I wanted them to be. I find it interesting that Elena Borroni is used for the Elven Poly Chants patch, but Stefano uses Giulia Colantonio for the ‘Elven’ patches in the Atlantis 2.0 patches. I’m sure Stefano has his reasons for this. This patch brings so many possibilities for composing.

What is still missing that is very much needed:

Rosario Angotti Gothic Phrases:
Very much needed to compliment her brilliant Firenze True Legato and to give the ability to produce convincing Gothic/Dracula/Castlevania style music.

Lara Ausensi Fantasy Phrases: Just because I want more Shevannai elf stuff from her to go with her Fantasy True Legato.

Elena Borroni True Legato: She still doesn’t have one. She’s the only lady to have no true legato. Stefano added 7 new True Legatos to Atlantis 3. I’m confused how a talent like Elena Borroni didn’t get a true legato to go with her previous work in Atlantis 2. This missed addition stung a lot.

Atlantis 3 is such an amazing library, that I want to critique it as a way to encourage @StefanoM to keep up his hard work. His work ethic and attention to detail are obvious. The products and support he provides is top tier….as good as it gets.

Overall, Atlantis 3 is a 10/10. Regardless of what your composing style is, for 123.72 (intro price) not including 20% loyalty, this is a steal. Any composer will find endless usability with this library. When Stefano releases Atlantis 89.0, I will still be a paying customer. Keep them coming. A true gem.

First of all, wow. Thank you! This is a review I'll treasure.

So, let me break it down, and I'll share my thoughts as I read your review.

Let's talk about Lara. I have to say I agree with you. I wanted to add more fantasy material for Lara. The problem is, we worked with Lara remotely ( she is from spain ), and she had a lot of commitments ( like Clara, but It's easier for me to work with Clara) , so it made things a bit more challenging than usual. But it's definitely something I'll add to the wish list.

Speaking of Rosaria, you hit the nail on the head here too. In the demos, I haven't been able to give her the space she deserves yet. She has an operatic tone that works well in many epic gothic contexts, as you mentioned. I also wanted to add phrases here, but I had to let go of that for now due to time constraints.

Now, Livia. She has a delightful but unique voice. It definitely shines in the higher register. That's why I wanted her. In the higher register, she has that perfect "vocal flute" quality. Sustained notes, very delicate, no vibrato. With a touch of reverb, they become highly descriptive.

Regarding Elena, here too, I share your sentiment. Both Clara and I love Elena's voice. I really wanted to include a True Legato for her. Unfortunately, Elena is not from my city ( Roma is my city, Parma is Elena's City), so we work remotely, as mentioned for Lara, which makes it more complex. But I've promised myself to have her record True Legatos as well. It will be the first thing I do in a possible future upgrade.

About Clara, you've said it all.

Everything she sings, she does it divinely, and it's a truly precious gift that I'll continue to capture in the recordings, given her endless vocal colors.

Thanks again.

I treasure all these insights, and if the interest in the Atlantis and Ethera Gold Series continues to be as strong as it is now, justifying an investment of my time and resources, I can't wait to make it even better. So, I'm taking note of everything you've said.

I finally got a piece done with Atlantis 3. I thought I'd add it to the review.
This piece singles out Giulia Colantonio (Elven True Legato and Phrases).
The 31 patch Hybrid Vocals add some real sparkle to it.
I think Giulia Colantonio might even be overtaking Elena Borroni as my absolute favorite women's vocal for sample libraries. She's magical. Would love to see @StefanoM do some more with her. I think she could do fantasy phrases well.

As I told you in the comment on the track, in the other thread. Congratulations, a very beautiful piece. And I like how you used the library.

Yeah, Giulia was unavailable during the update of Atlantis 3.

But I believe she has returned to Italy.

So, we will see; I would also be pleased to add some new patches from her.

We'll see; I also had an idea. Instead of making an Atlantis 4, perhaps create smaller expansion packs. Like very specific chapters—Atlantis 3 remains the Core, and then create specific "colors" for each singer. Let's see.

That is such an excellent idea.....

I lover it so much I hired Clara to sing the parts for real. I need to dig deeper on the rest.
