A sound unheard by most

Before I founded Bunker Samples, I was (and still am) a professional violist. As such, there is a sound that has been a part of almost my entire life, but one that most people never hear; the sound of the viola right under my ear. When you are that close to the instrument, you hear all the bow noise and tiny little imperfections that gives the sound it’s humanity. The softer you play, they more these sounds stands out and the more intimate the sound becomes - it’s a glorious sound full of texture and grit, but also beauty and human fragility.

How close can you get?

I wanted to explore these quiet sounds and textures in depth in a virtual instrument, and it quickly became clear that it would have to be recorded very, very close. I basically wanted the microphones to be as close to the instrument as my left ear, or closer - and that’s when I began wondering what the inside of the viola actually sounds like. Well, wonder no more…

Introducing Intimate Viola - Irema

Iremia is a detailed exploration of extremely quiet sustains and textures, recorded very, very close. In fact, you get 3 close mic perspectives with this library: Inside, Super Close and Close as well as Mid and Far perspectives - and every single articulation was recorded with and without mute. From whisper quiet sustains to living, moving textures, Iremia is perfect for Scandi Noir scoring or for anyone who wants an instrument that quietly pulls you in and whispers you all its secrets.

You get 21 core articulations, 15 x-fade patches that let's you seamlessly morph from normale to con sord, which of course is not possible in real life, but that's the beauty of sampling. You also get 12 different natural swells, extended dynamics control, per mic fx sends, instant mic signal phase aligning, a clean and simple GUI and so much more...

Iremia is $99, but there is a hefty intro discount, so until December 10 it is just $49!

Click here for complete info, demos and walkthrough.

And no, this will not be cheaper during Black Friday nor will it be this cheap again any time soon. The intro pricing really is a one-off.

All the best,
Nicolaj, Bunker Samples

Aagghh! Exactly the right library at exactly the wrong time.
I'm perpetually perplexed as to why the Viola is the neglected child of the string family, when it combines sonority, gravitas and an agile lyricism in a balanced manner that it's siblings can only aspire to.
Hopefully I'll be able to add this to my collection during the intro.

As a former violinist I totally agree. The viola is a
much lovelier instrument all round.

This one had me sold on the little demo that was posted awhile back asking which of the various mutes we preferred. Also wasn’t there one on tempo synched swells? Of course i also love every Bunker instrument I own, so this was pretty much an auto-buy.

More than 50 pre-order sold in just couple of hours😳. That was quicker than I thought it would be. I’m hoping this is a sign this library will sell really, really well…

And thanks again for your kind words. I really don’t like using hyperbole about my own stuff, but this one really is dragging out a bit because I keep getting lost in time, just playing with the patches as they come together. It really is so damn beautiful I can’t stop playing it.
